This tranquil, roadside inn features lush gardens that are designated a NWF backyard habitat and white-washed buildings spread over five acres. A landmark inn, El Rey has offered affordable lodging just minutes from the Plaza for more than 65 years. Friendly staff, sunny garden nooks and continental breakfast served in a cheery dining room add to the pleasant experience. Eighty-six rooms, ranging from inexpensive standards to a deluxe lodge suite, are surrounded by lovely outdoor amenities: sitting areas, fountains, and picnic areas. Tasteful decor ranges from Spanish Colonial to Southwestern, including hand-painted motifs and Mexican tile murals. Suites include fireplaces and kitchenettes and many rooms have pleasant, private patios. The outdoor heated pool is available in warm seasons only, two hot tubs and a sauna and exercise room are used year round. A laundry room and playground also add convenience to a comfortable stay.[less]

Everything was just fine
What's not to like!
“My husband and I have stayed there at least a dozen times, and we just love it. The accommodations are very Southwest/rustic and the breakfasts are fantastic with a great selection. It's not that far from the downtown area, at least not in our opinion. What's more you get to see some of the other sights and areas. ”
