• Once we found the Pine St. walk to the Old Port, we truly enjoyed our daily walks there.
• Dirty smell in the room, and we felt as though the staff was just trying to tell us what we wanted to hear and did not have our comfort in mind.

“Upon arriving to our room, there was a distinct dirty smell which only appeared to grow worse as time passed. We notified the front desk and were immediately given a different room which the front desk claimed was even nicer. We didn't like having to repack and unpack again, but ended up loving the new room despite the fact that it had no windows. Well, on our last day at the Inn, we came back from a morning outing to find all of our stuff missing, and we ran to the front desk in a panic only to find out (after much confusion at the front desk) that they had moved our stuff without asking us to a much nicer room. That room turned out to be the one with some smell that we had originally asked to change, and the smell continued throughout the night as my fiancee and I spent a sleepless night with our faces in the pillows and both greeted the morning with headaches. No one mentioned to us the possibility of ever having to switch rooms again after the first move and we walked by the front desk several times a day. We did receive a phone call the day of the move (as it was happening), but as I was on vacation, I left my phone in the room and did not get the message until after the panic of not knowing where our stuff was had already set in. It was inappropriate to touch our personal belongings without notifying us, it was inconsiderate and irresponsible to not inform us that we would have to make a move at some point, and the staff was completely unapologetic as they continuously informed us that each time we were moving to a much nicer room. It made for a very stressful vacation to have to pack and unpack 3 times, never feel like anyone cared that they were ruining our vacation, and having to spend money to pass the last night of our vacation in a smelly room. We will never return to that inn. They did not have our comfort in mind and simply told us what we wanted to hear.”

• Attention to detail by staff, fine antiques, excellent amenities.
• I couldn't stay longer. It was so relaxing!

“We have stayed three times in this romantic, well-located European-style Inn in Portland, ME. The staff could not be friendlier or more accommodating. The attention to detail is wonderful and they truly make you feel like their guest there. Each room in the boutique hotel is unique and the prices are incredibly reasonable. I highly recommend the Inn at St. John to business travelers as well as vacationers.”

“Came to Portland on business found hotel to be clean comfortable with friendly staff. Close to everything that I wanted to get to either by cab car foot or bus.”
