• No hotel wide WiFi.

“Although we were planning to visit South Haven (Thirty minutes to the north) where I grew up, we decided to stay at this hotel for several reasons. The location of this hotel stood out more than any hotels I looked at booking. We were coming from Chicago and this eliminated some driving time for us, a definite plus when a small child is traveling by vehicle. The other huge reason was because the hotel was located directly across the street from Lake Michigan. If you have never been to Western Michigan I will share a secret with you. The sunsets over Lake Michigan are maybe the most beautiful sunsets on the land. When researching my hotel options for the South Haven/St. Joseph/Benton Harbor area, this particular Holiday Inn Express was actually cheaper than others in the area. How could one go wrong with a location directly across the street from Lake Michigan? The hotel itself is located in a safe area. Trust me, I know from growing up in the area. And if that doesn't sell you enough, one of St. Joe's finest was cruising the strip every few minutes. Next door to the hotel is a Mexican restaurant which has absolutely wonderful food and great drinks at a reasonable price. They have a lovely patio in the front of their restaurant, a great place to sit, dine, drink, and watch the sunset over Lake Michigan. The hotel itself was very clean. The rooms were inviting and clean. The beds were very comfortable and bedding was clean. The room was big enough for everyone in my family to traverse without stepping on one another. The bathroom was clean and properly stocked. The shower also worked very well. Checking in could have went a bit smoother, as the front desk staff thought I was with someone else and took them a minute to get to me. However, the front desk person seemed horrified when he realized this mistake and apologized profusely to me. Other than that, the staff was very polite and helpful. The indoor pool was very clean and inviting. The temperature to the pool and hot tub were just right and the area was perfect for getting rid of the extra energy my son needs to burn off. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone considering it.”

• Staff was very friendly, room upgraded, very clean.
• Not near beach.

“Hotel Staff very friendly, the room was upgrade, and very clean. Loved the whirlpool tub. The location would have been better if there was a beach nearby.”

• They upgraded us to a suite.
• No beach access had to go somewhere else to get to the water.

“We decided to stay at this hotel over Memorial Day weekend due to it proximity to Lake Michigan, its right across the street. The hotel is close to just about everything including Downtown St Joseph, wineries, Warren Dunes, etc. You have to drive to everything, but the tourist area is very spread out and with all the beautiful country side you don't really notice! The only disappointment is that this hotel doesn't have water access. The hotel is on a high rocky bluff and it just isn't feasible to have access there. You have to go somewhere else to dip your toes in the water.”

• Staff attentive, clean, home like feel.
• Dirty blanket.

“Overall very happy with this hotel. The staff was very friendly and willing to help in anyway. The atmosphere was pleasant. The continental breakfast was very nice. We had one minor issue of a dirty blanket however the staff was very apologetic and it was quickly replaced. I would definitely stay here again.”

• The breakfast was great!
• The water temperature in the shower kept going from hot to cold. It did this the whole time we were there (2 days).

“The continental breakfast at this hotel was amazing! We have never seen anything like this before. Everything was very fresh and there was a wide variety of items to choose from. The hotel staff kept everything stocked throughout the breakfast from 6:30 am to 10 am. I was very impressed with the quality and quantity.”

“This is definitely the nicer hotel in this area. Room was large; the staff was very nice and the amenities were good. The location is good if you want to be about 5 min. away from downtown St. Joe -- we did because we were there during Venetian Festival. Our cleaning person was not the greatest -- our toilet had not been cleaned thoroughly before we arrived and was not throughout the stay (4 nights); the coffee for the coffee maker in our room was never replenished; one day they forgot to bring us any towels; carpet in the room needs to be cleaned.”
