“The Fairmont is definitely not a four-star hotel. It feels completely outdated with cavernous low ceilings. Be sure to add $28 to your room rate per day because guests are required to valet their cars - there is no other option.”

“Amazing! However, the parking was very disappointing. We spent one night there and paid $28 for parking.”

“The hotel was very nice and everything was fine but I selected the cities I wanted to stay in carefully and this was not in the city of Newport beach as stated but rather in the city or Irvine. That was a huge disappointment and I felt cheated.”

“The valet tricked me and said there was NO self-park. I realized there was self-park for $15, instead of $28 valet when we exited the establishment. The fridge was broken and smelled like rotten cheese. The bathroom fan was broken. Oh and the cobwebs. There was a cocoon growing on the ceiling. There were spider webs in the windows and in the corner and middle area of the ceiling. Ugh...this was our wedding night :( I guess that's what I get for trying to get a deal. I even let the front desk know it was our special night when I had made the reservations. I asked for an extended check-out so we could enjoy the pool and have lunch, but the front desk said my room already had guests for it...I guess another sucker for a yucky room :(”

“It was
a great hotel for adults but it was
not family oriented. No activities for children, pool too small for a 4 star hotel. No regular parking available, only valet for all guests. $28 valet parking fee was too pricey and then you still have to tip! All the staff was very friendly and helpful.”

“When I first arrived the valet was very kind and the room was perfect, the next day however, when I returned from my day of shopping and dining, the room smelled like cigarettes and it got me quite upset. Don't they know I get charged an extra fee for that kind of odor? It had me upset and concerned about the type of employees at this four star hotel. But other than that, I enjoyed the relaxed feeling of the room and the great valet service.”

“Great hotel! Did not like that I had to use valet parking and the extra per day fee for this.”

“Overall I, my wife and our 7 month-old daughter had a very good experience at the hotel. We were at the hotel for my brother's wedding. Initially finding the hotel was a slight challenge as they only have a tiny, low-lying sign at their entrance. We used the mini-bar fridge to put some stuff in; the fridge knows if you move stuff around and magically charges you for those items. However, the front desk was very nice when we explained we had removed products from the fridge to make room for other stuff, suffering us our ignorance and, by some sort of wizardry, removing the charges from our bill. The only down side of the rooms is that the central A/C for the hotel is old and overworked so that the room temp (which we had set to 60 F) never dropped below probably 75. Incidentally, the hotel A/C units roared all during my brother's wedding in the hotel garden. The staff was very helpful, handing me and my wife some bottled waters as we returned from a job in the neighborhood. Only the valet guys seemed overbearing, but probably only because I felt bad for them--was I supposed to tip these dudes after being fleeced by the hotel for $22 a night? 'Yes, you cheapskate!' says the CEO guy as he uses a $100 bill to light his cigar--which is also made of money. Continuing on. The fitness center had quality, working equipment. The 5-or-so course meal at the wedding reception (held in one of the banquet rooms and catered by the hotel) was seriously the most lavish meal in which I have ever partaken. So maybe their restaurant is good, too. In closing, the hotel experience was a good one. I would stay here again.”

“The staff was wonderful. They offered alternate pool and gym usage at another hotel or 24 hour fitness. The room renovations are gorgeous!”

“Expect a French experience and staff. If you do not like France then do not stay here. The room was beautiful, just finishing up remodel, the pool and exercise room were under construction and I woke at 8:10 am on Saturday morning to drilling and hammering noises. The bed was sagging on one side but the linens were of high quality. The rooms was decorated very nicely with a 32" flat LCD TV. Shuttle to a 24 hour fitness with a free pass was available, but they did forget to pick me up at a prearranged time. Breakfast was perfect and arrived 20 minutes after ordered, very nice. Valet is $16 per night, reasonable for the area and class of the hotel. If not raised after construction finished. I would enjoy staying here again after it is finished.”

“Classy hotel in good location, though the renovations now underway are much needed, and will bring it up to the most discriminating expectations. The French desk attendants were a nice touch.”

“Checked in pretty late (11pm) and did not call in advance. No more double bed rooms were available so was put into a single King-sized bed room with a lounge. Pretty cute. Room kind of smaller than the ones I've stayed in before but nice nonetheless. Hotel is very quiet though so security guard came up to our room to check on a noise complaint (we were talking and watching TV). Parking is $10/night but the guy was nice and didn't charge us (2 cars!). Overall I'd recommend this hotel for short stays. Very close to John Wayne Airport.”
