“I stay at Holiday Inn Express hotels regularly because they are consistently good quality for the money. The Holiday Inn Express in Orange Beach does not fit the quality standards. The carpet on the 5th floor was damp from poor circulation; the bathroom was musty and mildew; the breakfast bar was under-stocked and not well maintained. I will not return to this hotel.”

“This hotel is wonderful for traveling on a budget without sacrificing safety. Desk clerks were very nice and friendly. Tub lining was coming up but maintenance fixed it within a few hours. Front desk even called before after to be sure that it was taken care of. It is worth the extra money to pay for a gulf front balcony but only if you are second floor or above. First floor view is of the back of the pool chairs. Building was obviously updated with sub par craftsmanship (different shades of grout in the shower, old paint showing through the new paint, unpainted sections). Side door is supposed to require hotel room key to open but remained unlocked for our entire 4 day stay. The boast that they were rated number 1 showers but they should change it to number 1 shower heads because beyond that, the shower was no attractive or spacious.”

“When you think Alabama, you don't typically think of white, sandy beaches and turquoise waters, but you should. The Holiday Inn Express at Orange Beach exceed any expectation. Located on the shoreline, this hotel has a friendly, outgoing staff with accommodations and facilities that are convenient, accessible and easy to use. A great place to stay on a budget.”

“The shower curtain was broken, the shower was mildewed. My clothing was brought to lost and found from my room as the maid cleaned my room before the posted checkout time. The girl behind the desk offered an apology and said check out was at 11 even though the sign on the door and my itinerary said 12. To me, an apology is meaningless if you try to justify your actions in the same breath. I mean you are either wrong or not. They were obviously wrong.”

“My three children from 7 month to 21 had a great stay. The two older children had access to the beach as well to entertainment across the street.”

“Good location! Nice clean room at a beach front hotel. Nothing fancy, but fit the bill for a family vacation stop!”

“It was obvious that they were having major leakage problems in the lobby, but not in the rest of the hotel. Although the bathroom was not clean, the room was clean and spacious.”

“The room was comfortable with the amenities of a microwave and refrigerator which was great for the leftovers from our meals at various restaurants. The proximity to the beach was great. There are lots of good restaurants nearby. The staff was helpful.”

“I admit my expectations were not very high, but we were on a tight budget this year for the family vacation. However, I would recommend it to any family who doesn't spend much time in their room anyway. The pool was great and very family friendly with a grill, music, and waterfalls for the kids to play in. They have beach chair service. All the restaurants we ate at were within a couple of blocks. The putt-putt/arcade was right down the street. It was a very good experience. However, with the amount of children running around, I would not deem it a romantic place for couples. The staff was all very friendly and helpful.”

“The customer service left a lot to be desired. We were sent to the wrong room three times. We realized that after our third trip to the front desk to get the key to work, walked into the room, and someone's belongings were already there. That night (10:30) the toilet overflowed and water covered the floor so we called guest services. About 20 minutes later, someone came up with cleaning supplies, but no plunger. She went to "look for a plunger". An hour later she still hadn't returned so I called back, and she said she couldn¿t find a plunger. Yet another hour later, I called back again and there had been a shift change. The new staff had not been told of the problem with the toilet, so a new person went on the hunt for a plunger. She finally came back about 30 minutes later and resolved the problem. It was almost 2:00 in the morning before we got to go to bed. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had.”

“The staff was friendly and hotel was OK. I had reserved 2 rooms, but when we arrived, only one room was ready and then when the second became available, it was 6 floors from the first room. Another downer is that the second day the cinnamon rolls were not available in the breakfast buffet! It is expensive for what it is! The cleaning staff is very pushy and not all that good at cleaning! The sleeper sofa in one room had dirty linen from the previous tenants. ”

“Attractive hotel directly on beach with great private balcony. Rooms were nicely equipped with fridge, microwave, blow dryer, iron & ironing board, and high speed Internet access. Wonderfully convenient location - could walk to many restaurants and attractions. Well lit, safe parking lot. Very pretty pool/hot tub area. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others. My only complaint is the unnecessarily loud, noisy housekeeping staff. I would be sleeping like a baby until they started their daily rounds and from then on, it would be impossible to sleep. I kept a do not disturb sign on my door most days, and they would rudely bang on my door anyway, completely disregarding my request for privacy. They would persistently bang on the door, repeatedly saying "housekeeping," until I would tell them I didn't want my room cleaned. I've never had this happen before - at any hotel. Usually when you put a privacy sign on your door, you can rest assured that you will not be disturbed - but not at this particular hotel. They ignore privacy signs and I find that to be terribly rude. Overall, I enjoyed this hotel stay very much and would definitely stay there again.”
