• Historic grand hotel. Very good location.
• Food poisoning, we believe we got from room service dessert.

“The staff was genuinely nice and helpful. The room was beautiful and comfortable. I believe the dessert delivered from room service caused us food poisoning and I believe the valet broke our steering wheel. But this is my opinion and can not be proved.”

• Comfortable room with refrigerator.
• There was no hot water to take a shower.

• Large room. Great bed. Surprisingly quiet. Great ambiance.
• Expensive parking!

“This hotel is very old but has character galore. The bathroom was dated but the huge and very comfortable room made you forget about any shortcomings. Luckily, we did not have a car as the expensive parking ($30 per night) would have put a damper on our stay. We loved it and will return!”

• Very clean and comfortable. Short walk to Metro.
• Mirror too low in bathroom even for 5'5" woman. No swimming pool.

“We enjoyed our stay. The location of this hotel created a different experience than our latest trip when our hotel was on Capital Hill. Really enjoyed walking the neighborhood and all the restaurants.”

• Friendly & helpful staff. Good, safe location.
• Valet parking was necessary and costs 30 dollars/day.

• All the staff greeted with a smile, and asked how I was, usually by name.
• The maid failed to leave coffee one day, but the clerk offered me some on the way out.

“Excellent hotel, friendly and courteous staff, convenient location to anything in NW DC., food was good and service very good.”

• Location, price, great bed and bathroom.
• Slow elevator.

“I loved this hotel. Small and intimate. No resemblance to a chain facility at all. I had a room for handicapped persons (although I did not request it); it was very spacious and accommodating. Great location on Dupont Circle - could walk to many great restaurants, the park, small shops along the avenue. Very convenient for public transportation - the bus and metro. I would definitely recommend and would stay again.”

• Parking.

“The Churchill was very clean with very friendly staff. The room was small but designed comfortably with separate dressing area and bathroom with a door for privacy and a separate alcove-type sitting area with sofa and coffee table.”

• Room layout was very nice.
• Main entrance is not accessible without the clerk.

“I was returning to the hotel at around 2am and doors were locked. The only access was by clerk inside opening them, there wasnt a way to side your room key to open. While I was waiting, a couple who was also staying there came up and had to wait. I waited close to 10 minutes to get in, and I was in view of the front desk clerk the whole time. Other than that, the hotel itself was great.”

• Perfect location; friendly staff.
• It would be even nicer if the renovation had included new tile in the bathrooms.

“I like the Churchill. It is a perfect location for a weekend getaway, and has infinitely more character than the Hilton directly across the street. The rooms are comfortable, the food in the restaurant is good, they have free internet PCs setup in the lobby, and the staff are very friendly. It's beginning to feel like my pied a Terre in DC - I could happily be a regular there.”

• Waiter in restaurant and a man at desk checking us in were people friendly, very efficient and very helpful.
• Service in the restaurant was very slow both times I ate there and very few people were eating dinner. Food was excellent but slow in getting to us.

“Overall I was very pleased with the hotel. Meals in the restaurant were excellent consequently we ate there twice for dinner during our stay. Our waiter was excellent and most friendly. It took a long time for the food to arrive at our table although I don't think it was the fault of the waiter as he was at our table frequently checking on us to see if we needed anything like additional drinks or bread. The same bartender was not always friendly and it made me want to ask him if was having a bad day. The rooms were attractive always clean and cool on hot days. It was pleasant to return to it in the evening after being gone during the day. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. I traveled with family members and we had a total of three rooms and everyone in our party was delighted with the hotel. It was difficult to pull in to the hotel off the street but probably due to heavy traffic. Being a tourist I don't know if that is a problem with most hotels in the DC area.”

• Location was good.
• Unfriendly front desk people. Everyone checking out had problems with their stay also.

“The front desk staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. We had the worst room in the hotel (handicap room facing the generators and brick wall). The shower leaked all over the bathroom and soaked my clothes on the floor.”
