• The staff made us feel instantly welcome. The room was beautiful.

“The staff was very professional but made us feel very welcome. Very friendly and helpful. We didn't know we had a junior suite (we had run of the house on priceline) until we walked into a massive room (not a fantastic view, but pretty quiet). Antiques in the room were beautiful, and we don't think we've ever slept so well in a hotel then we did in that bed. We had dinner in the bar and liked it-the ambiance was somewhat unique and we enjoyed the live jazz. We live 10 hours away, but we said we'd come back to Washington just so we could stay in this hotel.”

• Great room.

“The hotel was in a really great location. We were upgraded to a suite for no additional charge. The room was nicely appointed, clean and had very thick walls so we could not hear anyone else in the hotel. We finished our stay with a delicious Sunday brunch.”

• Room was larger then last hotel I stayed in in Wash. D.C.
• Further from metro than I thought.

“We booked two rooms for our family. My room was larger, with very nice bathroom size for older hotel in Wash. D.C. Food expensive in resturant. Staff friendly and very helpful.”

• Good location, nice ambiance and
  quiet.
• Could not get facecloths second night.

“I would recommend this to friends, some business travellers would like more amenities. We found the bar area, musicians and dining area very pleasant. The rooms were a bit small but were clean and what I would expect for an older hotel in the city.”

• It had a fantastic atmosphere about it and when very nice. It was unexpected.
• Our rooms thermostat wasn't working so it was hot in the room.

• Historic hotel, and a short walk to the Mall.
• Drafty windows - old hotel, windows didn't latch.

• The appearance.
• No AC,
  no window screens, taxi prices from the hotel were 4 to 5 times as much as a metered cab.

“This hotel did not have airconditioning, no screen on the windows that had to be opened to get air inside the room. Taxis were charging 4 to 5 times the amount of a metered cab. Front desk would not answer the telephone. Check in took forever, someone new was training and we had a late flight and just wanted to shower and go to bed.
The service and the accomalations were very undesirable.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone anytime or place.”

“The best hotel I have ever stayed in. Wonderful room, nicely decorated, friendly and helpful staff, great location, really nice bar and restaurant. I would come back to D.C. just to stay there again.”

• It was clean and the staff was nice.
• The location to sites was further than they represented.

“Hotel is clean and staff is friendly. Food in the restaurant is very good and well prepared. The hotel is not very busy and almost too quite. They have no parking and charge too much to park the car, 28.00 per night. The workout facility is in a very small room with 3 treadmills and that is it.”

• Clean, attractive, within city.
• Room heating/cooling was one system - heat turned on when I tried to "lower" air conditioning.

• A wonderful hotel with History and Romance. Great clean room and a great staff.
• No hotel parking. Valet parking that cost $32.00 per night.

“Our experience was wonderful. From the moment we checked in, everyone was wonderful. Our room was small and just as cute as possible. It was the best bed I've ever slept in. It was close enough to all the major sites and within walking distance to Chinatown and great restaurants. It was an excellent experience. I can't wait to go back.”

• The hotel is a straight shot from route 50.
• Unfriendly, and small rooms for the price.

“When we first got there it took about 10 minutes for anyone to say hi and another 10 for someone to actually help us. The rooms were very small. I liked that the windows opened to allow fresh air in. Overall poor unfriendly staff and loudly room.”

• Very nice decor and clean hotel. Very conveniently located. I was disappointed with the fact that I had to pay $31.00 for 1 night parking.
• Paying $31.00 for 1 night of valet parking. I feel the hotel should have free parking for their patron's.

“Overall, I was satisfied with the accommodations. Unhappy with the construction taking place next door at 5am in the morning that awoke me. Also the desk and chair in the room was not very comfortable for me to use while I was using it for my laptop. I would recommend this hotel to others. Just needs to make some minor adjustments to make it a great hotel to stay at.”

• Location near the convention center, good price for the quality.
• Unable to locate an ATM machine near the hotel, had to walk 4 blocks.

“The overall experience of this hotel was great. The only thing wrong, which was beyond the control of the hotel, was the construction going on right outside the window. It started around 6 in the morning and didn't stop. It was horrible!”

• Very convenient to the wash dc convention center.
• Restaurant was a bit expensive (burger & salad).

“The room was small, but very clean, and had a stacked bar in the room. Very convenient to the convention center. The restaurant has very good food, but is a bit too expensive for my taste. (Burger & salad?) The staff was very friendly, much better than most places.”
