“The location can't be beat, but it is low tourist class. Historic but not is a charming way.”

“This hotel was everything I expected it to be. That is to say it was nasty and skanky but very very nicely located. I do no regret my decision to stay here as I spent very little time in the hotel. It was basically a place to stash all my stuff and catch a couple hours sleep. It is a very well suited hotel for that.”

“The room was small and the air conditioning wasn't working, handle of shower was about to fall off. Bathroom was filthy (dust and hair), the electrical plug-ins did not hold the hairdryer or phone plugs, and there was no remote for the TV. However, surprisingly the bed was comfortable.”

“The hotel was quite good for the price. The location is just in the middle of all the cultural attractions - 10 min. walk to the national Mall, 15 - White House, Metro is quite close. Very good internet connection. The only thing I missed was a hair-dryer.”

“I know it is a old building and appreciate that but can still be kept clean and smelling good. Also the bathroom doors do not close.”

“Location is excellent. Can walk to most nearby attractions or metro stations. Safety would be an issue if traveling alone. Hotel needs updating; especially carpeting without holes all over and new plumbing would not go a miss.”

“It's old and somewhat disheveled, but it's sort of quaint. The parking in the only qualm I had, it's 5 blocks away. I did not feel safe walking back to my hotel by myself, after parking my car late at night.”

“The one good point of this hotel was that it had a great location. The subway was close by but most of the things to see were within walking distance. There were a bunch of restaurants nearby, only one though that was open late and it was very expensive, so eat early. As for the bad points there were a few. From the moment you walk into the hotel you can tell that if it were not for the location the cost would be very low. The rooms had the appearance of being dirty. I did not want to walk barefoot in the room. The bathroom floor had mold on it and all the tiles were cracked. Overall it was too expensive for what it provided.”

“The location and staff were great. The elevator, corridors, and rooms were dingy. The carpets, sheets, and blankets were quite worn and frayed. Surfaces were spotted with the stains of age and bits of dirt. The lights were dim. The bathroom was clean, but was too tiny for toiletries...”

“I would suggest a more exhaustive search of truly affordable hotels within safe walking distance of major museums. Though I expected fleabag, I was still irritated at the price for quality. My observation was that this was the most run-down building in the area.”

“Hotel Harrington is a comfortable, quiet hotel in a great location. The architecture is fantastic and the staff is very helpful. It can suit nearly any purpose, and I would definitely stay again.”

“The room requested was 'non-smoking¿; the room offered was a smoker room, very smelly. It was not clean, fingernail clippings on the floor for the entire stay, stains in the bathroom and stains on the beelines, even after it was pointed out they weren't changed. Being a hotel manager by one of my professions, the hotel certainly doesn't meet the stated standard.”
