• The room was amazing large and very nicely decorated. Great bathroom too!
• Valet only parking.

“This is a great place to stay in Washington, DC. Perfect location and the hotel is beautiful. The room was large and very nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will stay there again when in the city.”

• Staff was helpful in finding a room the would accomodate our needs.
• Parking was expensive, but expected that.

“Could not have been more pleased with our hotel in Washington. Close to the Metro, comfortable, helpful staff and most importantly, a wine reception in the early evening. How can you beat that?”

• Location was great. Right on Dupont circle.
• Rooms were very small and the hotel staff was not friendly or accommodating.

• Bathroom, fixtures, location, soaps.
• Room came with leopard robes, and ears. What else can be said?

“According to the Kempton literature, this hotel chain prides itself on being unique. And this particular hotel lives up to the promise. Upon opening the door, the leopard patterned carpet kind of leaps up at you. Ah! Upon opening the closet, two leopard robes (more like costumes) tempt the animal inside of you! Ah! The rest of my particular room was decorated in what I can only assume was an African art decor. I can't really explain the robes. I quickly shut the door and promised never to look again. But I did. I had to. The robes were matted and a bit old looking. But they were wrapped and dry cleaned. How many leopard fantasizing patrons danced all over the room in past safaris? Crawling around. Growling! Ah! The room was immaculate other than the worn carpet and the worn adult costumes. The bathroom, fixtures, furniture, and mini-bar were all top notch. The music was annoying. It was some party. But I didn't attend. I tried to sleep. At 1:00 am, after hearing the party spill out into the streets for hours, I decided it was time for non-prescription drugs. Then I woke up at 3:00 am. And the music ended. So I slept well. But I had an 8:00 am meeting. So from 3:00 am until 6:00 am, I really enjoyed this hotel. I steered well clear of the leopard robes. I slept well. The bed was utterly the most comfortable I have ever slept in (despite people crawling around it like leopards in past safaris). Would not recommend for conservative types. Would not stay again.”

• Efficient, spotless, well-run, coffee in lobby, nice exercise room.
• Coffee disappeared at 10 am.

“Great hotel, very tastefully decorated, everything in immaculate condition, staff responsive, loved the coffee in the lobby rather than cardboard stuff I would make myself in the room.”

“Updated modern hotel with excellent service and very good location for Metro users. Rooms are very compact and lack seating comfort for more then 1 person at desk. Difficult to find happy medium on AC due to draft directly on bed.”

• The quality of hotel public areas.
• Slower service, and could smell something funny in room when it was warm.

“Issues with conveying information between myself and hotel, problems arose and it took an unacceptable amount of time to fix problems (did not get response by mgmt about problem until my vacation was done and I got home). Hotel and room was nice, above expectations, but if room got warm, a smell evolved. Like an old stale smell.”

• It was in a very good location for tourism. Doorman was very pleasant and courteous.
• The room was very small.

“Staff were very pleasant, especially the doormen. The room was very small but clean and pleasant. Its location was perfect for doing tourist stuff and in walking distance from Dupont Circle as were CVS and Starbucks. Only complaint besides room size was that there wasn't a coffee pot in the room. Otherwise, stay was wonderful.”

• Large, well-furnished, comfortable room.
• I loved everything about this hotel.

“The Palomar is in a great location, close to buses, metro, and within walking distance of great restaurants, a Sunday farmers' market, and many Washington D.C. sights. My room was large, well-furnished and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Complimentary wine bar was fun! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.”

“Loved the modern decor, bathroom sinks cool, getting the NY Times at my door (instead of USA Today), great coffee and choice of newspapers in the lobby on Sunday morning. The hotel staff at the front door make an excellent first impression (being especially helpful and sympathetic when I tripped and fell at the curb!)”

• Milk & cookies were delivered to my son at no charge.
• Very expensive parking, $38.08 per night!

“The Hotel Palomar was beautiful and the staff was superb! I had read in other reviews that this was not a very family friendly hotel. I strongly disagree. My son was greeted at the front desk and given kids Palomar bag filled with goodies. It included a kid's review card to be filled out at the end of our stay so they do care about what kids think of the hotel. The staff gave him a coupon to use for a Milk & Cookie night. Room service brought up a bedtime snack just for him and left without taking a tip! I was impressed. Our room was so clean that it surprised me. I had read that it is a pet-friendly hotel. I am allergic to dogs & cat, so this worried me. I would have never guessed that an animal had ever sat foot (paw) in the place. It was immaculate! I would absolutely recommend Hotel Palomar to anyone wanting to visit DC. It was a pleasant experience. The only thing I didn't like is that it was several blocks to the nearest metro entrance and it was very cold while we were there. All in all, I would stay there again!”

• The entire hotel had a sophisticated and hip air about it. Rooms were spacious and bed was very comfortable.
• There was no access to drinks outside of the expensive mini-bar, or expensive room service.

“The hotel staff was warm, helpful & accommodating; rooms were spacious, and bed was luxurious. Bar and restaurant were fun, and the manager's happy hour every night provided a celebratory atmosphere. You felt great walking in the door here to your room; plus I liked seeing the dogs that were checking in too.”

• Rooms are very small, dark and hotel has a lot of smokers.

“Hotel Palomar is a very trendy hotel that appeals to the young hip crowd who want to be in the center of the Dupont Circle area. It's about 4 minutes to the Metro station which makes it extremely convenient. The hotel features high end interior design but the lack of sunlight in the modern darkly painted rooms can create a gloomy space. The hotel lobby is a place of activity since the hotel is generous with wine and snacks every day. The staff is very helpful and wireless internet is free which is a rarity.”
