• I enjoyed the cats roaming around the grounds, which made me feel like I was truly in Hemingway's Key West.
• Didn't like having to park down the street; maybe they've moved it closer.

“I stayed at Duval House a few years ago and couldn't have been happier with my stay. They took me without a reservation (the hotel I had originally booked my stay at was utterly unacceptable), it's located close enough to the city center to be convenient, but far enough away from the busiest area to be quiet and relaxing, and the staff was helpful, friendly and always courteous. The pool area is lushly tropical and serene, my room was clean and quite lovely, and it was fun to sit on the front porch and watch the world go by after a long day of doing touristy activities. Also, though it would be family friendly, it's more oriented towards romantic getaways. I always recommend Duval House to people when I find out they're going to Key West.”

• Bad staff..bug infestation...barely any AC. Parking was terrible.

“We booked a room at the Duval House for 2 nights of our 4 night honeymoon. There was an ant infestation in our first room.....after they moved us to a second room, we inspected for bugs. Looked OK until the next day when all of our luggage was covered in ants and spiders? or termites? Also, the AC was terrible. We left Key West early because of this place. The staff was not helpful or sympathetic to our situation at all. The woman at the front desk said "your in the tropics! you should just deal with it".......ok.....I bet a franchise hotel wouldnt have said that. DONT GO HERE!”
