  • The shower head was excellent, and the beds were comfortable.
  • The WiFi.

“This hotel is an odd duck. It's a great location if you want to be close to Venice Beach, but the elevators and lobby are pretty shabby, and my room had stains on the carpet (one in the shape of an iron) and the heater /
AC unit did not work in my room. They sent a guy up 2 times to turn the heat on, and when that failed they left me a scary looking space heater that I did not want to leave turned on as I slept. The Wi-Fi service was terrible, often not working at all, and when it did work it was very slow. It seems that with some work, this could be a much better place to stay. The hotel seemed very empty, and their regular room rates are not in line with the quality of the the rooms. There may be management problems with this hotel, it's huge and in a desirable location, but it seems kind of tragic and run down, in a vague kind of way.
And the family next to me must have been suffering from jet lag, because they were wide awake at 3 AM, probably still on Barcelona time. Of course this kept me from sleeping well. Bottom line is that this hotel has potential, but is probably not going to please travelers looking for dependable internet service, and basic features like being able to heat or cool your room.”

  • The location is close to the marina.
  • The restaurant was closed on Monday.

“Provides nice basic needs but needs to have cleaner grout in bathroom.”

  • The bed.
  • If you enjoy 1960's decor you will love this place.

“The parking garage was the nicest part of the whole experience. It was very well kept and clean. The room was very bland, and decor was very old. The tile in the shower was dirty and dark brown. The tub and sink were brown to match. This should be classified as a low end hotel. This place is in severed need of upgrading. Carpet looked like it had never been cleaned.”

  • Friendly, relaxed seaside atmosphere, large rooms. Bathroom was a bit outdated but very clean and well-maintained.
  • Small bathrooms.

“The Marina International Hotel was a peaceful oasis in my busy trip. The room was very large, had a balcony and complimentary bottles of water. The staff was very friendly and helpful, particularly with giving me driving directions. I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends and family.”

  • Nothing!
  • Noise from the highway is loud!

“Staff is unfriendly. Rooms are old and need updated. Scary hallways and location. Noise from street is very loud. Cannot control room temporature, you have to call front desk to have them adjust it. Run far away from this hotel!”

  • Great location.

“The hotel was perfectly situated for the beach across the street and has access to many restaurants in the area.”

  • Location only.
  • It was musty and furniture old and stained.

“I
left after the first night due to the dunginess of the room, furniture, carpet, etc. in dire need of renovation.”

  • Close to the beach.
  • Rats in pool area, hair in hot tub.

“I believe there was time when this hotel may have been very nice, however I think over the years the hotel has been neglected and has not done anything to update its image. There was a large rat running through the breezeway, the pool was not stocked with towels and the hottub was very dirty. The
TV was no larger than a 19" so it was very hard to see and the internet connection was slow and unreliable. On a positive note all of the staff seemed very friendly and the room appeared very clean.”

  • Breakfast was excellent.
  • Vacuuming too early in the morning.

“The room was spacious/nice overall and the bed was very comfortable. However, I woke up on Sunday morning at 8am to a vacuum being run near-by. Unacceptable! I informed the manager and she gave us a free breakfast; and told us that it wouldn't happen again. I felt better. Then I woke up before 8am Monday morning to the vacuum. Not a quality hotel!”

  • Nice parking garage.
  • My room wasn't ready for check-in until 3 pm. I've always checked into hotels prior to check-in time for convenience.

“For the price, I would say this hotel is overcharging for the level of service it should be providing. I would tear down and renovate from scratch.”

  • The courtyard setting.
  • The Jacuzzi was cold and the rooms did not have ac which you could control per room.

“The rooms were outdated and the air conditioning system is ridiculous. We were given a bungalow which had a separate window unit AC so that we wouldn't have to further complain. This is how it went. The regular rooms were all controlled by a master thermostat for all of the rooms. When I first walked into my regular room it was freezing. The desk representative said that maintenance had to go up onto the roof to turn my room AC off. I then said what if I get hot? The desk representative then said someone would have to go back onto the roof to turn my room's AC on, however maintenance left at 11:30 at night. Ridiculous! Other than this the location is great & the bed was comfortable.”

“This was an acceptable, budget, family hotel 50 years ago when it was built. Little has changed since. It has paper thin walls, a 1' gap under the door, no ability to control the climate in the room.”
