“Overall the hotel was ok, the bed was pretty hard so I didn't rest real well. For regular American food all that was available was small croissant sandwiches. But is was clean and quiet.”

“A great small hotel with awesome amenities in a great location. Little Tokyo in Downtown LA. Very low-key but well appointed and clean.”

“I would not consider this a 3 star hotel. The room was shabby and run down. The paint was peeling in the shower area and the sink surface was flaking away. I would not have felt safe going outside after 7:00PM. No American food anywhere nearby.”

“Located in the heart of Tokyo Village and walking locations to various Asian restaurants. The area is undergoing a much needed facelift. Close to freeway and in the outskirts of Downtown LA which is redeveloped and very lovely. Parking choice is valet or public parking. This is inconvenient and costly. Downtown LA parking costs include city taxes which is terribly high.”

“The hotel was located in the Japanese part of Los Angeles. No one spoke great English, and there weren't a lot of American restaurants, all Japanese food.”

“The location of the hotel; its proximity to the freeway and LA attractions is great. It is in general a bit dated on the inside and can use some renovation and sprucing up. The linens were clean, and rooms were cleaned well. The staff was not especially friendly, but not rude either. Perhaps it was a cultural thing - all staff was Asian as it is a Japanese Hotel in Little Tokyo.”

“First off, it took me forever to check in, and the man at the front desk spoke poor English, and was entirely rude and insensitive. There was a group of strange people walking in off the street that clearly werent staying at the hotel just loitering in the lobby and staring at people. The room was clean, but nowhere near as nice as what the picture suggested and not to what one would consider a 3 star hotel in LA. At 3 am, I was awakened by an employee rudely barging in. At checkout, I just wanted to leave, but I was pleasantly greeted by woman at the front desk who couldnt speak English either. She then proceeded to ask me "how many bottles of water did you drink?", and I said "why? Does it matter? They were literally next to the bed in the open with no sign or anything suggesting that they not be complimentary, and she proceeded to tell me that they are a dollar a bottle! I said, "yes, we drank three, and hurry up and charge them to the card so that I can just get out of here, and get this place over with. I am completely let down, and I will never bring them business or referrals!”

“This was my 3rd stay at this location. By far this, hotel is the worst. Of my 3 stays none have satisfied my expectations. I was not allowed to check in unless I used "Valet parking". The attendant asked us walk with our luggage and 2-month-old child from a parking lot located 1 block behind the Hotel.”

“I am very happy I ended up at the Miyako. Its central location (near two freeways and less than 20 minutes from everything) made it easy for me to see LA on a short trip. Friendly and efficient staff made it easy for me to get my car and luggage in and out. Nice bed linens and a squirting toilet seat! A short stroll to great Japanese restaurants in Little Tokyo. I had what was probably the best massage of my life at the hotel spa. This is not really an "upscale" establishment (basic rooms and mediocre restaurants), but you can get a great deal and really enjoy your trip with the Miyako as your home base. I would definitely stay there again. Seriously, get a Shiatsu massage here.”

“The only problem I had with the hotel was the parking. My Hummer didnt fit through the parking structure, they still charged us for the attempt. That was the only downside of the trip.”

“When we first arrived, I was very disappointed. I expected the hotel to be in much better condition, but it felt dingy in many ways. Our first room was adequate, but didn't feel special. The furniture was poor quality and not in good condition. However, the room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. We found mildew in the bathroom, so we complained about it and were moved up to a much nicer room. The second room was exactly what I had hoped for originally (though it would have been much more expensive). It was beautifully decorated, clean, and really luxurious. It had a huge flat screen TV, nice desk, luxurious bathroom, and even a beautiful suede lounge chair. We felt like being upgraded really redeemed our experience of the hotel, but on the basis of the first room, I wouldn't recommend it. I did have a Shiatsu massage in their spa, which was nice (both the spa and the massage were good).”

“Nicer than a 4 star hotel we stayed at later during the trip. Though the lobby was not as extravagant as the larger 4 star chain, the cleanliness, luxuriousness and amenities of the rooms more than compensated. Would certainly look forward to spending future nights at Hotel Miyako!”
