• It was clean and had free WiFi that wasn't a pain to use.
• Lots of little cut corners.

“Clean room in a motel that looked like it hadn't been updated in about 10-15 years. Not that the place was decrepit, but the colors were dated, the mattress had seen better days, and some of the furniture creaked when you walked by. Not enough electrical outlets for modern life (laptops, MP3 players, etc.) either. The place seemed a bit understaffed; I'd say when we went by the front desk (at varying times), there was no one there more than half the time. The first night we were there, we heard the chirping of a smoke detector with a low battery. The next morning we mentioned it and were assured it would be fixed, but, that night, we discovered another smoke detector chirping. The front desk claimed it was the wireless access point making that noise. In years of working with WAPs I've never heard one chirp like that. There was no offer to move our room once it was apparent to the staff that the problem could not be fixed.”

• Did not appear clean and
  in need of remodeling.

“In
need of upgrading. Parking lot and
sidewalks were not cleared of snow. Excess furniture was stored in hallways. Below average for Super 8.”

• Good value, right on main street and
  easy to find.
• The minute you walked through the door there was an overpowering Indian food smell and it followed up the stairs.

“It was good for value but the entry way was shabby looking and there was a very strong Indian food smell that was overpowering. It followed us up the stairs to the second floor. It was there the whole stay. Luckily it did not invade our room. The bathroom sink was not cleaned the second day of our stay as there was tooth paste still in the sink from brushing our teeth the night before. The handicap ramp outside was not shoveled the whole time we were there and yet there was handicap parking. I doubt we would stay there again, unless management changed.”
