• Clean, friendly and close to town.
• The mattress was hard to sleep on, as hard as a sidewalk.

“Great location, good price and value when breakfast was included. Mattress was too hard for me, interrupting my sleep and making for a less than relaxing stay. I knew that I was the only guest who didn't appreciate their new beds. Would be helpful to have an exhaust in this area.”

• The room was huge and seemed almost like a suite.
• The parking was odd - in the basement and small spaces.

“The room that we had was very spacious and right near an exit door to the street. It was close to downtown - walking distance to the cafes for breakfast. We got in late so our only option for dinner was pizza delivered. No refrigerator in the room.”

• Outdated decor and too many doors requiring magnetic strip cards - cards lost coding.

“Good location, basically clean but outdated decor. Overall, room was spacious for a 3-person stay with the King Loft but a little pricey for the rating I would give the hotel.”

• The colors & decorations were beautiful. I loved the bed, the fresh bedding & the choice of the fabulous pillows.
• Even though all rooms were non-smoking, this room smelled like people had smoked in it.

“This is a gorgeous hotel close to the quaint shops and restaurants in downtown Solvang. The gold colored walls, earth-tones are fresh and the view of the outlying hills from the window extraordinary. Very quiet for being so close to where the action is. Outstanding breakfast served as part of stay from 7-10 am. You must have one of their fresh-baked cinnamon rolls and a fresh cheese omelet if you do stay. Also, for those of us who detest the traditional bedspread that never gets washed. This hotel does not use those, but has gone to doves. The pure cleanliness of the bedding is a treat. It's too bad someone had smoked in the room that I was in.”

• Bathroom door did not lock and the bathroom decor was outdated with peeling wallpaper.

• They switched me immediately when I reported the TV was not working well.
• When I switched rooms, the individual who checked the TV offered no help with my bags when moving to the new room.

“Friendly front desk staff. Only complaint described above. overall nice hotel for the price, good value.”

• It's location to Solvang was awesome. Half a block and you are there.
• The different levels took us a while to find our room.

“I was very pleased with our stay at this hotel. Everyone was very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable and the complementary breakfast was awesome!”

• We were upgraded to an awesome suite upstairs and downstairs.
• Did not like the location.

“This is a good hotel if you are interested in visiting the town of Solvang. It is far from Santa Barbara and pretty much in the middle of nowhere! It was a cute German village with cool antique types of shops but if that is not what you are looking for then not a good place to stay.”

• Misled, couldn't check in until after 4, would not let us see the room.

“We arrived at noon, hoping to see the room, asked for 1st floor and king size bed and nonsmoking room. They put us on the 3rd floor in a smoking room with queen size bed. Interior ceiling was such that you could hit your head when getting out of bed in the middle of the night. We were very disappointed!”

• Well decorated room-many pillows with cases marked soft & hard.
• A few stairs to get to elevator from garage.

“Hotel was well located, very clean and the staff was very helpful and cheerful. Good blackout drapes, nice size TV-good dressing area. No charge for parking which is a plus. The breakfast that is included in the hotel was just satisfactory, but the price was right!”

• Helpful and accommodating staff, excellent breakfast, enjoyable atmosphere.
• The pool was closed and the bathroom wallpaper was poorly maintained, making it appear dirty.

“Whether traveling on business or leisurely with friends and family, if you find yourself on the California Central Coast, you must stay here. The small community of Solvang features shops, restaurants and museums with that Old World atmosphere offering an authentic Danish theme and wine tasting in abundance. The Holiday Inn Express is poised overlooking the Hans Christian Anderson Wildlife Park and the staff is friendly and accommodating.”

• Handicap signs for elevator were not visible which made it very hard to go to our room.

“We were told to park in underground parking but there were no signs to the elevator that was around the corner. We struggled with luggage and oxygen machine. The signs directed you to a elevator that required going up a flight of stairs. Once we made it to our room the room was nice.”

• Lots of stair ways, hotel is split level.

“Great breakfast selections, good coffee and cookies. Mostly I liked the white bedspread and felt like it was really clean for me to sit on the bed.”

• It was ok.
• It was an hour away from the place that was the purpose of my visit. It took 5 minutes for the water in the shower to warm up in the morning.
