• Very very clean, great cinnamon rolls!

“Cheaper than staying in Monterey but it was great because as a tourist Cannery Row and all other locations were just close enough! Very clean hotel.”

• Really clean bathrooms with lots of towels.
• Very small sink area for two people.

“Very close to busy highway so very noisy. Good for cleanliness and beds were very comfortable. Breakfast is adequate. Need more access to morning paper. Front desk man was very helpful and friendly. Bathroom sink area is crammed. Need to add an extra spot for grooming somewhere. Not much view of the ocean even from the 5th floor.”

• Sand bluffs prevent ocean view unless on top floor.

• The hotel is right across the street from the beach. Chili's is in the parking lot.
• There are many raccoons in the hotel parking lot at night.

“The hotel is convenient for beach goers. The hotel was pretty quiet. The swimming area is okay. The hotel is very close to several local eateries. The rooms were pretty clean. However, the double beds are full size and not made for taller people. If you are tall, request a king bed up front because they do sale out quickly.”

• Close to attractions and offered more lovely amenities than we had expected.
• I couldn't ask for more at this star level.

“This accommodation offered more than we were expecting at it's rating level - a king sized bed, 5 pillows each embroidered with their relative softness, hot breakfast. We even had attentive desk staff who all spoke easy to understand English. I couldn't recommend it more highly.”

• The hotel next doors excellent service.
• Poor attitudes of front desk help staff.

“I felt humiliated and discriminated against by the hotel staff lady at the front counter on Thursday night when I went to check in. I walked in to the lobby the young lady looked me in the eyes, did not say a word turned back to the Hispanic couple she was helping said something in Spanish at which time the gentleman customer turned to me and turned back to the hotel staff person and they both giggled. Then 5 minutes later without a word the staff person said and what can I do for you? I was appalled at such poor service at a holiday inn hotel.”

• It is obvious that they are doing the absolute best they can to make this a nice place to stay, including marble-topped surfaces in the room.
• It is obviously a motel-sequel building primped up to seem nicer than it was.

“Staff was were very young and friendly but inexperienced. Room was obviously refurbished, which was a great surprise - new bedding, cabinetry, and marble-topped surfaces. However, our door still opened to the open-air (motel-like building), and the location, obviously, isn't within walking distance of anything (other than a gas station and home depot). Oh! But they have an absolutely lovely small lake with waterfowl and a walking path right outside - very aesthetically pleasing.”

“This hotel was like every Holiday Inn Express. The rooms were very nice and the breakfast was wonderful. I would definitely stay here again. The location was just ok, expect at least a ten minute drive to any vacation spots. Even with that I would definitely stay here again.”

• I enjoyed the maids! They are so kind and hard working! The hotel had a sensational continental breakfast! Loved the marble counters in the rooms.
• Room had a musty smell and the restrooms could be updated just a little more to match the rest of the room. But overall excellent place to stay.

“The hotel was a great stay for the price. It was rather clean and comfortable. All the doors to the hotel room where faced outside (not sheltered within the hotel). Overall it was a great room and experience for a one night visit or longer. Great flat screen TV's that pivot, marble counter tops, large closet space, great shower spout/head and kind maids! The location was in front and behind a lake with Canadian Geese, very beautiful feeling. The hotel was literally blocks from the ocean and to the tourist populated Fisherman's Warf and Canary Row. Great stay!”

• Room had damp clammy feel, poor location.

“Nothing to mark it out and poor value for the price. Bathroom was miniscule and needed refurbishing, tub was awful, would not bath in it.”

• Staff was very accommodating, place was clean!
• Could hear upstairs neighbors at 4am-loud.

“I was hesitant to stay in Seaside, but was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel staff was quite accommodating, and genuinely friendly. Our room was spotless, as was the pool area and breakfast room. Bed was comfortable too. We actually had a view of the pond in back, with lots of bird life. Parking was free, and plentiful, with easy access to the freeway and many amenities. Breakfast was included in the morning. The only downside was a broken ice machine, and hearing the teenagers upstairs at 4 am. They were quite loud, and I wondered how many people were kept up by them. All in all it was a really pleasant experience, and I highly recommend.”

• Access to the freeway and proximity to Monterey attractions was great. Hotel was clean and comfortable.
• As always, some guests are loud. Possibly place better weather stripping around doors to combat outside noise.

“Overall our stay was good. The access to the freeway and Monterey attractions was the main reason we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. The continental breakfast was fantastic. This will be our hotel destination every time that we stay in the Monterey Peninsula.”

• For the age of the hotel and the fact that it was under construction for remodeling, the room was very clean.
• The entire hotel was under remodel and the noise was unbelievable.

• Very clean, comfortable beds, nice bathroom, high quality materials and finish, very nice for a moderate hotel.
• The view from our room was very undesirable, but there were other rooms with beautiful views.

• The breakfast was above my expectations, as were the rooms. Was surprised to have a gym! Comfortable beds.
• Decor was just ok, pool didn't have towels, quite a hike into town.

“The hotel exceeded my expectations given the star level. Beds were very comfortable, there was a decently-equipped gym onsite, kids had fun at the pool/Jacuzzi, and everyone loved the breakfast. Staff was very helpful and friendly.”
