• Great staff.
• No air-conditioning.

“Our room had a compact kitchen, a couch, and a king size bed. It was more than what we needed for a two night stay. Parking was gated behind the hotel at a cost of $30/night.”

• We especially liked the kitchenette. Very nice breakfast tarts.
• I would recommend safety bars in the tub/shower.

“For the price, a perfect location. One block from Powel St cable cars. Friendly staff, clean rooms, very comfortable bed. I would definitely stay there again.”

• Smelled like a Chinese restaurant in the lobby.

“It is located on knob hill in a convenient location. Nice staff. There is free internet and a nice breakfast every morning.”

• Breakfast! Kitchenette! Balcony!
• No overhead lighting (only lamps).

“Great place! Only 2.5 stars because of being in san Francisco¿s densely populated hotel district. Otherwise, easily 3 stars. Nice friendly service with breakfast, balcony & kitchenette.”

• Kitchen, free Internet computer, comfortable size room, full cable TV, windows that opened, breakfast, comfortable bed.
• The steep hills to climb when walking, no feather pillows.

“A pleasant surprise. No frills but very adequate, clean and comfortable. Several free amenities/services not provided by the more expensive hotels. Walking to the hotel up Knob Hill was good exercise for me since I live in a flat region. $5 cable car was a block away. Many restaurants & Whole Foods within walking distance.”

• So convenient to everything. Everyone smiled and said hello. Make you feel totally at home.
• The shower head came off and hit my boyfriend in the head.

“Located a few blocks from Union Square and the cable cars, the Groves nor Suites is close to restaurants, shopping and transportation to get you anywhere else you want to go. Situated near the top of Knob Hill, the views are great, although the Golden Gate bridge is blocked by another building. With a free continental breakfast, (although no fruit), and free Internet in the lobby, how can anyone go wrong?”

• Extremely comfortable with a superb location.
• I arrived shortly after 1 and was told check-in was at 3 and I would have to wait.

“Excellent hotel. Fantastic location and quiet rooms. Sufficiently close to Muni and Cable Cars to get you anywhere you want in the entire city. China Town and Union Square are a short walk away. I had a 10th floor room with a balcony and sliding glass door. I left the door slightly ajar to enjoy the cool breeze and liked hearing the "ding-ding" from the cable cars only one block away. I also had a pleasant view over the city and the Trans America Pyramid.”

• Good location, nice kitchen and good view.
• You can always hear the noise from the room next to you and the talking on the hallway.

“Overall is a good hotel. But it is too much hill to walk from the market street up. Also it is not good to always hear people talking on the hallway, and the noise from the people next to your room.”

• The hotel was quiet, clean, and so very convenient.
• There was nothing of note to dislike.

“The public areas were small, but were arranged to maximum advantage. The building is older than first my impression revealed, but it has been upgraded nicely. The staff was informative and prompt.”

• Nice view, clean room, handy kitchen area, handy breakfast.
• You could not sit at the table and watch TV, you had to be on the bed.

“It is a great place for a business or pleasure trip to San Francisco. The location on Knob Hill is both pleasant and convenient. The rooms are more than adequate and the continental breakfast is a nice extra touch. ”
