• It was old world romantic.
• No pool.

“Old style charm, elegant, the kitchen was great; the location off the zoo was perfect for us. Close enough to Downtown without Downtown being our only convenient entertainment option.”

• They were small apartments with lovely views of the Lincoln Park.
• The hotel desk personal was not friendly or inviting. Lazy couldn't get off her chair.

“I loved the hotel. It was defiantly a four star. provided a continental breakfast in the morning. Very pleasant atmosphere. Breakfast staff was very accommodating. Room had nice view of Lincoln park. It was across the street from a zoo and a plant conservatory. Very Nice! Loved it. It was a long distance from the loop or Michigan sty. 10.00 cab ride each way.”

• The size of the suites.
• The bed was very uncomfortable.

“For all of its glamour reviews, it was not as elegant as I had expected and I was so sorely, (pun intended) disappointed in the quality of my mattress.”

• Lobby and historic building were phenomenal. Neighborhood made me feel like one of Lincoln Park's privileged residents, and the breakfast was a bonus.
• A little far from the subway lines.

“I would definitely recommend staying here if you want to feel more like a Chicago resident. Great neighborhood, beautiful building, and the apartment suites make you feel more at home than a traditional hotel room. The staff was friendly, the suites comfortable, the lobby impressive, and there's a good French restaurant attached to the lobby. If you prefer to have people falling all over you for a tip at every occasion, stay at a big chain.”

• Extremely friendly front desk staff.
• No parking.

“I had an excellent time and the accommodations far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend checking out the sun-bathing roof for a great view of the city and the lake. I also felt extremely safe in my room. There were two deadbolt locks and a lock on the door. One of the deadbolt locks was only accessible from the inside (keyless).”

• It was very clean and spacious.
• No card keys, old fashioned metal keys that were too numerous.

“It was very clean and spacious; right across the street from a free zoo, which would be great for families. A little too far away from any stops for buses or the "L" to be considered convenient. Continental breakfast was spectacular, real breakfast foods not just donuts and coffee.”

• AWESOME location! Totally safe and vibrant neighborhood with plenty to do!
• No fruit at continental breakfast.

“Wonderful! Our room wasn't ready when we checked in (basic cheap room), so they upgraded us to an amazing suite with a beautiful view and King sized bed! The location is amazing being right across from the (free) zoo, in a safe neighborhood, within walking distance of dining and coffee, and right along transportation routs!”

• The room was wonderful, comfortable, had a full kitchen, and beautiful decor.
• Can't think of anything.

“This is a nice quiet old world style hotel in a great location. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel staff was very helpful. We also had a fabulous meal at Mon Ami Gabi, the French Bistro located in the hotel.”

• Great location near Boystown.
• Check in is after 3:00pm.

“Belden-Stratford is listed as a four star hotel. My expectations for this star level were met when I walked into the lobby. I travel for fun. This hotel is set up with a very nice and romantic Gay Family Friendly area just a few blocks away from Boystown and Halsted Street. Great view of the lake.”

• The suite was huge and included a kitchen.
• Needs new carpet.

“It is right across the street for Lincoln Park and the Zoo. We had a great view of Lake Michigan from our room. It is slightly out of the way but it is a beautiful old hotel. We got a suite that had tons of closets and a full kitchen. So if you do not mind a little inconvenience it is a wonderful place to stay.”

• The room was great. Nice size and great amenities.
• One desk staff person was a little "snippy" at first.

“Good location, great view, and good amenities. The kitchenette was great, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, stove. We will definitely stay here again, especially for a long weekend.”

“Beautiful lobby, nice restaurant, helpful staff. Loved the location. Right across from the botanical garden & Lincoln Park Zoo. Lots of good restaurants nearby, safe neighborhood. Bus stops within a couple of blocks. The decor was very worn down and scuffed up although it was clean. The mattress was awful - very bouncy & sagged terribly in the middle.”

• Have to wait till 3:00 PM for Check in

“The rooms were really clean. The beds were very comfortable, it is great to come back to a comfortable bed. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Very nice hotel, nice service, nice location as it is in Lincoln Park. Made our stay in Chicago enjoyable easy walking distance to a variety of stores, restaurants, and attractions.”

• We wished there would have been breakfast available.

“We really enjoyed our stay. The small apartment style room was very clean, had a great shower with nice towels, comfortable beds, and a great view of the zoo and Lake Michigan. The hotel staff was excellent!”
