• The pool was nice, The location was good. Room adequate.
• The hallway and lobby carpets seemed dirty.

“I would trash all the 'artwork in the lobby - it's vintage 1970 and not attractive, and recarpet. That alone, would vastly improve the place. But for the money, it was fine and the room was clean.”

• It had a bed.
• The room was filthy. The bathroom was disgusting.

“This hotel wasn't worth the money. I would have rather stayed at a Best Western at least they are clean.”

• Great location, indoor pool, great staff, great value
• samll bathrooms

“I frequently visit Chicago with my wife and teenage children. We love the Essex! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, we love the free shuttle bus services and it has the only indoor pool of any downtown Chicago hotel. The location on Grant Park is terrific - close to museums, shopping, etc. Exercise facilities are first rate. When you combine those qualities with the low rates, it's the best value in Chicago.”
