“Nice hotel, but not 4 star quality. Loud, as it is next to a hospital. Also loud within the hotel. We could hear both neighbors showering and talking.”

“The hotel was very nice. The room we had was designed for someone with disabilities, which would be great if we needed those amenities.”

“A simple hotel that is nothing close to a 4 star. Although concierge services were great, door staff and phone operator were less than friendly. The rooms were large and clean. The beds were very comfortable, but the windows were very bad offering no insulation from the cold or noise. The heater in the room was very noisy. I would have been very upset if I were to have paid full price for the room.”

“When checking in I was told of a free upgrade and that I had paid in full for the two nights I was staying. When checking out I was charged extra for 2 beds instead of their standard 1 king bed. A little deceiving but management took care of it nicely and I wasn't charged anything extra in the long run.”

“The hotel staff was excellent from the time we checked in and the upgraded us to a larger room, to checkout. The hotel rooms were very clean and the site was in the heart of the Magnificent Mile Michigan ave. Chicago.”

“Rooms were clean and in good condition. Location is 2nd to none. Beds were comfortable. Not many amenities, definitely a 3-star hotel. Parking costs are high but you might save $10-$15 per night by parking farther away from hotel.”

“I was with my grand daughter and wanted queen beds. The hotel said that king beds are standard and any change is considered an upgrade. There were taxes on absolutely everything. Even a tax on the person delivering room service. I won't stay there again.”

“Fan of the Avenue Hotel in Chicago. I travel to Chicago twice a year for business and have chosen the Avenue Hotel for the past four trips. Coming from San Francisco my standards are high and I find the Avenue offers several major pluses. First, its location to the Magnificent Mile cant be beaten. Second, the upgraded room that I received on two of my last four visits was large by Chicago standard and has all the amenities that a business traveler or serious shopper expects of a first class hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was also very nice and incredibly clean. My wakeup calls were delivered on time and with a friendly voice. Staff at the Avenue Hotel is friendly, accommodating and well trained in customer service. Third, with rooms located on the higher floors, the view is incredible. I didn't try the health club, which has drawn a few negative comments on this website, but it looked completely acceptable. Overall I am a fan of this hotel and plan to return again.”

“The valet made me park my own car. The Sky Lounge that was supposed to be open from 6:30 am to midnight was closed and locked at 6:00 pm with dirty dishes left on the table. No late check out available.”

“This is a great hotel in a great location, except for being next to a hospital. We did hear sirens, but it's not that big of a deal. It was hard to find an ice machine that worked. We did get upgraded to a suite.”

“Lovely to stay at, barely affordable, we enjoyed the central location of the hotel and the pool with nice rooftop location if not always the cleanest water.”

“We stayed in one of the suites on the 39th floor and the view was amazing, the room had a Huge window that was around 3/4 the size of the suite (around 20') that overlooked downtown! That was by far the best part, but overall the room was nice and comfortable, leather couch, flat screen TV, etc. We weren't in the room very much but it was nice. The only downside would be the small bathroom, and even worse the hotel lotion and shampoo was used prior to us being in the room. I would still recommend this hotel if you are in the area. It is also right off of Michigan Ave, and a mile from Navy Pier (great location).”
