  • Value location.
  • Elevator speed.

“Good location/neighborhood setting, great price, felt safe even sharing a bathroom in the hallway. Rooms done tastefully contemporary, sink and refrigerator in room. The elevators were so slow and small otherwise could not think of a thing to worry about, again the price was great.”

  • Nothing really. It was good overall for the money.

“Hotel is very well located in Manhattan, has 24hr pizza places around the corner and a 24hr place for coke, cigarettes, etc. Staff was awesome in the hotel. You can use internet from other hotels around.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[5] • Location:[8]

  • Rooms clean good service. Very well located for leisure seniors.
  • Unattractive lobby-plainly budge.

“A good choice for those visiting family or friends on the upper west side of Manhattan.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[5] • Location:[6]

  • Period (Beaux-arts) details: marble, cast iron. 2-room suite was nice.
  • Elevator was in and out of service. Lobby is pretty unattractive.

“Overall pretty clean and nice. The lobby is really ugly and not in keeping with the lovely Beaux-arts exterior and interior details. The elevators were very small and often not working. Okay for us on the 3rd floor, but would not want to have been any higher. Nice bathroom! Upper West Side is safe, but not terribly convenient to Penn Station. Still, overall, a decent stay.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[8] • Location:[10]

  • The location is great, the rooms have been redone.
  • Rooms are too sparse, no rug on floor, AC unit didn't work, Room was uncomfortably noisy because of a generator outside window

“Rooms are too sparse-they have a "Euro-style" that's attractive but not at all plush. If you want creature comfort this is not the hotel for you. The lighting of the room and the bathroom was poor. The floor was bare wood. The bed was comfortable and the linens are attractive. The location is excellent.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Very European in "flavor" with a clean, comfortable queen-sized bed .
  • More than average amount of loud late-night door shutting by younger (European) guests.

“This is a nice, clean, helpful hotel in a convenient, safe area near subway, bus and taxi with a small comfortable room containing all the amenities but no frills. Very good for quick, one or two night stays with activities planned for outside the small, no-view room. I was pleased with the crisp white bedding, comfy bed and plentiful towels, and the nice modern bathroom. It was truly a very nice "bargain hotel" surprise-- especially at the last minute.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[8] • Location:[8]

  • Upper West side location great for museum, history buff. near great restaurants. Rooms, redecorated, are clean and bright. Comfy beds!
  • Stale smoke smell in halls (but not our room!). Something just felt missing.

“Overall, our stay was very pleasant and I will go back again. Love upper west side neighborhood. Short subway or long walk to Times Square was just fine. Rooms painted a very soft, pale peach and/or butter yellow. Obvious efforts made to brighten and clean this wonderful old building. But if you are expecting pure luxury, forget it! The halls smell like stale smoke and the elevator looks and feels like the first ever built! These were not a big turn off...just don't expect it all to look new.
