“This hotel is not minutes away from New York City. It is in a very rundown, scary neighborhood. It wasn't too bad in the daylight, but is very bad at night. There is a large highway/road in front of the hotel and both nights had drag racing and motorcycles speeding up and down, loudly. The rooms have a funky smell, the beds are old and it is not clean. Although the rooms are larger than the others we stayed in in New York, it is not a good tradeoff for the location and cost. The staff is nice and helpful, but everything costs money, from having your bags held, etc. There is an adult bar across the street, so not the best place for children. In a nutshell, old, smelly, not comfortable, not close to the city and overpriced.”

“I expected and found pan am to be pretty dated. I was however; clean overall, genuinely friendly staff. Only $7 for internet access. About $20 taxi to mid town. Would stay here again.”

“A very nice place to stay was close to many attractions. Easy to get to and good airport pick up/ drop off. Staff was nice. Will stay there in the future; wish they had a frequent stay card.”

“Good experience would recommend. Safe area, pop's dinner was good for food, close to subway and other amenities. Pickup and delivery to airport were nice inclusions. Nothing fancy.”

“The Pan American hotel is probably the best deal on a hotel that you will find in all of New York City. The staff is friendly, the hotel clean, the rates are very reasonable, and the rooms are very comfortable. There are several restaurants nearby, and one located in the hotel itself (though it's slightly overpriced). There are also two shopping malls about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. It's fairly close to the Grand Ave. Newtown subway station and has a shuttle service to JFK airport. Best nearby attractions: food - the Georgia Diner. Great food, friendly service, decent prices. Avoid Pop Diner. Though it's only a block from the hotel, the service is lousy, and it's a bit more expensive than the hotels restaurant and the Georgia Diner. Shopping- Queens Center mall. A nice four story mall with plenty of variety in its shops, and a nice selection of fast food restaurants in the lower level. Definitely check it out.”

“Very helpful and service oriented staff. They were knowledgeable of the area and services nearby. They anticipated my needs, and offered excellent suggestions and information. Ideal location near many restaurants, and short ride to airport. Private parking lot, free parking, safe.”

“The place was nice until they had loud jungle music on Friday and Saturday nights. They had it in writing that the bar/music/dancing was open until 2:30, but by that time we called the front desk, and the clerk said it was going to be going on until 3:30am. We were on the first floor over the lobby. Anyone over that restaurant would have heard it worse. A lot of outside people (general public) go there to dance, etc. If you go in your stocking feet in the room, you will get your socks filthy. It's obvious that they do not wash the carpet and its one story up; not even the main floor! They really rip off, compared to other hotels where we have stayed. If you run off only one copy from their computers, you will pay $5.00.”

“I paid way too much for this cheap hotel. The beds were awful, bathrooms in need of updating. Avoid if you can. Should be rated a 1 star at best.”

“I like although be far from Manhattan, it is near to subway station. It is clean, and the services I received were good. I like more the kind able people on reception, good service transportation to the airport. It is good and some expensive but it might because it is New York.”

“Very disappointed! I have stayed in many two and three star hotels and this was definitely a one star! The rooms always felt dirty, the bathroom was an absolute nightmare and the hotel in general was old, stinky and run-down in my opinion. If I would have known that it was a one star, then I would not be complaining, but the fact that I was told it was two, was very disappointing. The trip was great, everything else worked perfect.”

“Very nice place to stay, easy access to attractions. I stayed for three nits and it didn't take long to get to the art museums, times square (about 20 minutes by subway). I think taking the subway, seeing different people was itself part of the vacation experience! Get the 7-day subway pass if you there for more than 3 days. Free shuttle to joke and lag. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.”
