• Location.
• No Air conditioning in the elevators or hallways.

“We have stayed at the Wellington for the last two years for 4 days and its a nice hotel with friendly staff and the location on 7th avenue suits us, we can walk to the theatres and restaurants. We will probably choose the Wellington again next year.”

• Hotel is in a great location.
• Carpet was dirty.

“I was nervous about the hotel but it met my expectations. It was in an ideal location, the room was old, but clean. The carpet was so dirty looking that I would not let my children walk around with bare feet.”

• Dirty lobby and hallways in need of renovation.

“Good location in New York. Rooms that have been renovated are of good size and in good condition and comfort. The hallways and lobby are barely in need of renovation and updating which is in progress.”

• The Wellington was very convenient to the Subway.
• The hotel felt worn and old and my room was hot.

“The Wellington is a fine hotel for sleeping and for general access to Manhattan. The staff was very friendly and helpful and, truthfully, the highlight of my stay. The rooms are small and worn -- but well appointed, all things concerned. My room's AC couldn't keep up (and it was very warm) but I understood from other guests that theirs was fine, so that may have been limited to my room. High-Speed internet was available and worked well (wireless, $10/day). The coffee shop is pretty basic looking (and tight) but the two meals I had there were both well prepared and the staff, again, was very nice. Overall, not a bad hotel.”

• Rooms were old, small. I even had to pay for ice.

• Quiet, good location, clean, nice sized room with bathroom with tub and shower, walk in closet with lots of space.
• Loud window air conditioner.

• Good location.
• Small lobby. Hallway carpet smelled bad.

“Nice older hotel, but a little tight in some areas. Could use updating in Hallways/elevators/staircases. I was happily surprised that I received a suite. Very comfortable bed, but small bathroom. However, the hallway carpet smelled bad. There were no vending machines and the little shop off the lobby was small, dirty, and the products looked like that hadn't been moved in years. Dust everywhere. Better to take a short walk to Duane Reade.”

• King sized bed, good location, great price, comfortable & affordable.
• No in-room safe, wireless internet access was an extra charge.

“If you want a comfortable bed and a hot shower at a reasonable price, you will find it in a classy, older hotel just a couple blocks walk from the theatre and Central Park. The place: The Wellington Hotel, located at 55th and 7th avenue in midtown Manhattan.”

• We loved the location and the staff was very helpful and polite.

“I would recommend this hotel for someone on a budget that wants a clean and quiet place to stay. The staff was very helpful making Broadway show recommendations and restaurant guides. We would stay there again.”

• Location was excellent.
• Staff was not friendly, seemed like a bad case of job burn-out all around.

“The only reason I would consider staying at The Wellington again is for the location. The staff was not friendly (except for housekeeping). The lobby furniture, while it served it's purpose, was very old. I reported a leak in the bathroom, and it was promptly fixed. If you're looking to be pampered, this is not the hotel for you, but if you want the basics, and a primo location, you'll be satified.”

• The location couldn't have been better.
• Room was small.

“Really enjoyed the location and terrific restaurants nearby. Walked to the Theatre District and MOMMA. Cabs and Subway very attainable. The shower was terrific.”

• Convenient, clean, and close to the action.
• Initial given smoking room, and first told no others available.

“For a less than 3 star hotel (2.5) in Midtown, this hotel is a great value. Courteous service, efficient and tidy, and close to Times Square. The lack of ice machines/vending machines was probably the only thing that it lacked that similarly situated hotels have. I've seen internet complaints about the lack of room refrigerators, coffee makers, etc. But those aren't what I've come to expect for anything below 3*. An excellent midtown value.”

• Great room, shower was wonderful. Service was above excellent.
• That I had to check out and come home.

“I was more than pleased with my experience there. Older hotel, quaint and clean room. Wonderful location. The staff were FANTASTIC! My son drove in from Philly to have dinner for the night, I called the front desk for a roll away and they had it in the room and set up in less than 5 minutes. Then the remote control went missing, I called the front desk and had a new one immediately. I would do stay there again and recommend to friends and family. I love NY!”

• When we requested a room change, they were accommodating.
• The old section is a dump! Bad plumbing, bad AC, shabby rooms.

“Our 3 rooms for our large family group were all in the back, unremodeled section. Terrible. Poor AC - hot rooms, poor plumbing, shabby decor, mattress felt like the boxspring! We requested a room in the new area and they did move us. It was better - 3 stars maybe. When my makeup bag was lost during the move, they didn't help recover it at all. No one would even return my calls about it. I never saw it again.”
