“This hotel has a nice but tired lobby. While this seems like a 3 star, the room I received was far from it. The room was generally depressing. I had two single beds, a giant stain on the floor, wallpaper falling off the walls and worse of all, bed bugs. They put me right beside the elevator. I asked to be moved and they refused at first. Once I threatened to show other guests my arm and leg, they quickly changed their tune and got me a new room. In the end, it was the same room set-up a few floors down. I heard they have nicer rooms here but they never gave me one.”

“The staff was wonderful. The hotel was clean and in a good location. The room with one double bed was very cramped with not much leg room, but since we were not in it much, it didn't really matter. The room had ample storage and everything we needed.”

“I would not recommend this hotel. Front desk staff are indifferent at best and the hotel is best classified as an economy hotel. Very outdated, perhaps suitable for the last minute business traveler who needs to somewhere to sleep. Otherwise, I'd skip it.”

“My experience at this hotel was terrible. Upon check-in, my traveling companion was harassed by a resident. We did not know that this hotel had permanent residents. We had a room with two twin beds and one bedspread has a large stain. Gross. We killed a roach on the wall the second night. We left quickly thereafter one night early.”

“Overall this hotel was very nice. The lobby, elevators, halls, etc. were very nicely done. The room didn't have very much decoration, and was facing the inside of the building, so there was not much to look at when in the room. An external viewing room would be nicer.”

“This hotel exceeded my expectations as a 2.5 star hotel, so I ranked it a 3 star. The lobby is beautiful with air conditioning that felt great after walking around 95 degree NYC. My request for a king sized bed and a non-smoking room was respected, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is very nice as well.”

“The Jolly Hotel Madison met our needs wonderfully. Great mid-town location, friendly staff, especially the bellmen. I was comfortable traveling with my spouse and 2 kids but would have been happy as a business traveler, too. Did not use bar/restaurant but it looked inviting. Small rooms but nice. Clean and a proper desk to work at, quiet. Bathroom was large in comparison to room which is good.”

“First of all, it is a boutique hotel, so some of what I got I should have expected. Front desk staff wasn't rude. They just were not nearly as friendly as most I have dealt with. Room was OK. Everything in it seemed like a slightly cheaper version of what it was trying to be. Cable/TV didn't work at all. I didn't complain because I was not in the room enough to really want it, so I cannot say whether it would have been an easy fix or not. Phone in the bathroom was broken, and the internet did not work, not even enough to get to the part where I would have been charged to use it. Bell hops were both very friendly and accommodating. The location is fantastic. My only desire would have been to be a bit closer to a subway station, but the three block walk was very pleasant, and seemed to get shorter as the trip went on. Overall I would probably not recommend this hotel, but for the price we got it at on Priceline, and considering we used it pretty much only to sleep in and shower in, it was probably worth it.”

“The hotel could be cleaner, but was by no means dirty. Staff were nice but not overly accomodating. Nice little hotel bar and restaurant but no need to use them with the many great breakfast and dining outside the hotel. AC was a bit old fashioned and clunky - not very good at controlling the teperature and noisy - but it did the job.”
