• Excellent location, close to all amenities. Has fridge in room.
• The carpet in front of the elevators on the 5th floor is very dirty. The lobby could use some more lighting. Very old decoration in the lobby.

“Room is nice and clean. It has a fridge. I am very satisfied with my room. The hotel location is very convenient. The lobby decor could be updated and more lighting is needed. Certain section has very old and dirty carpet.”

• This hotel had a good sized pool and better than average exercise facilities.

“This hotel is a little off the main road, but is located right next to a scenic waterway and across the street from a shopping mall complete with a multiplex movie theatre. The rooms are good sized and there is restaurant onsite. The pool is a nice size and there is also a whirlpool and dry sauna. The health club facilities are also slightly better than in most hotels I have stayed in.”

• The location on the lake was very nice.
• It was an older hotel pool was being used for swimming lessons and guests.

“Nice older hotel with generally friendly staff. Pool could have stayed open later, given it was away from guest rooms and was being used for swimming lessons for at least part of the day, to allow hotel guests more use.”

• Terrible beds.

“Very disappointing stay at the Holiday Inn SSM; I've stayed at several other HI hotels and always had a very comfortable bed with the new linens. This hotel had the old, saggy, spring beds that you wake up with numb legs. Clean bathroom and room. Very convenient location - right on the St Mary's River and next to a mall with Sears, Zellers, etc inside. My overall rating is low because the whole point of a hotel stay is the bed you sleep on - and this hotel loses points until they remodel the beds!”

• Good Location, very cordial staff, clean and neat, maintaining the standards.
• One side of the view not good. Needs more emphasis on the restaurant facilities.

• Nice location, clean, friendly service.
• For being on the water you would think it would maybe face the water.

“It was a fairly nice hotel. Enjoyed my stay. Staff was friendly. Room and hotel was clean. Location was good, right Downtown (close to shopping, restaurants etc.) Nice view of the St. Mary's River from the restaurant, but not from many of the rooms unless you are at the end of the hall. Would I stay there again? Sure.”

• There is not one negative with regard to this hotel excellent stay.

“This is an excellent hotel with superior and helpful and friendly staff. Clean and quiet facilities that are very close to a mall and other amenities. The restaurant was wonderful. We highly recommend this hotel Thanks to the Holiday Inn Sault Ste. Marie Ontario! Loved it!”

• The pool was very clean and so was the hot tub. Restaurant staff was very friendly!
• That wasn't a complimentary breakfast.

“My overall review was that the hotel was in a beautiful area, right on the waterfront! I had an excellent view! The hotel very clean and they even gave you an option of what kind of pillow you prefer!”

• It has a huge pool and kids eat free.
• The hotel is somewhat dated and the food is boring.

“The hotel is in a great location right on the river and just minutes from the bridge. The main areas are somewhat showing their age, but the rooms are nice and always clean.”

• We had a lot of fun in the water, unlike most hotels where they don't offer any water games; we had fun playing volley ball and dodge ball.
• We found a sock and earrings that didn't belong to us that made us think that it is not cleaned properly.

“The restaurant staff was outstanding, we loved the pool area. The lobby was really clean and comfortable. Cleaning staff, needs to go through rooms more thoroughly, other than finding things in our room that didn't belong to us and being a little out-dated the beds were really comfortable. .”

• Switched our room to a nicer room.
• Had a room with a brick wall that I looked out at first.

“When we arrived to our first room it was dingy and dark and looked out to a brick wall. Staff was very accommodating to change our room even though it was booked fully. The room we ended up taking had a beautiful view. Overall it was ok. However for the price, I had no complaints.”
