The St.George has a unique history: Via Giulia was part of the grandiose project imagined by Pope Giulio II to transform Rome into the astounding world capital of Christianity. St.George Hotel's building, originally meant to be the Roman Court House, was designed by Bramante and was started in 1508. A custom of those times was to use parts of ancient Roman temples and buildings and, in fact, the St.George has some huge blocks of travertine that belonged to the Coliseum's area. Nowadays, you can feel past and present fused together and, from the rooftop terrace, our guests can take in a rewarding view of the Eternal City.
