“I feel that the hotel's location was good. The Eiffel Tower is two blocks away and that is the only highlight of my stay at Mercure. However, this was not a four star hotel. I specifically requested a non-smoking room. The first room I received was smoking. I went back to the concierge and was given a key for another room, which clearly had not been cleaned (the beds were unmade and there was garbage on the floor). I had to go back for a third time to receive the key for another room. I had to call 3 times for maintenance to come to fix it. The linens were not clean. Some towels had some disgusting brown stains, which were not inviting to use. Upon checking out, they tried to charge me over 250 extra EUROs for multiple breakfasts that I never had. I disputed this and they did remove the charges. This is an overpriced budget hotel. It was clearly not what I expected. It does not meet the standard of a 4 or even 3 star hotel.”

“This location is absolutely excellent. We loved the room. Small and very European. Good air quality, clean room, hot shower. Breakfast is a little expensive 19e.we was able to walk to many shops and cafes for our meals. The hotel restaurant staff is very nice. The front desk staff is very helpful with directions, van reservations, etc.”

“The location is good as a starting point for sightseeing, close to Eiffel tower, Metro line 6 and Batobus (boats). Big disadvantage is the noisiness, which in part comes from the hotel itself and in part from refurbishment work in the surrounding buildings. We changed rooms several times to get away from it.”

“Showing wear and did not have the typical comforts such as luxury linens, separate bath/shower, roomy bathroom space, concierge, etc. Room size was slightly above average but small bath was cramped. Very disappointed that roll out was not available for child and had to book a separate room at the rack rate. No concierge and front desk wasn't always able to help with information.”

“Hotel was in the perfect location, but the rooms are small and not that great. Hotels are a bit slow as well. For the price, it was ok, but not a great place to spend a long period of time.”

“Only 2 blocks from Eiffel tower, the hotel was perfect for a tourist (like me). Cafes, restaurants, bakery, fruits stands were just a minute away. Thinner pillows and firmer bed would have been awesome. Over all, I would definitely stay there again.”

“This hotel is disgusting and a shame to a 4-star (even a European 4-star) rating. The room was not cleaned each day, there was very little air conditioning, and the hotel neglected to fix a broken TV in the 4 days there. It almost ruined my vacation completely.”

“Hotel location is excellent, but room is very small, also with the 4 star level it has a plastic cup in a bag in bathroom?”

“If you want a room with an Eiffel tower view, then stay at the hilton. The hilton actually blocks most of the view of the tower from your room. There is no concierge service at the mercury. This was very frustrating b/c the front desk is not very helpful - they were a front desk, not an informative concierge desk. We wanted site suggestions and the best advice to plan our days based on the activities we wanted to do. But the front desk just showed us a metro map and sent us on our way. Our best bet was to just walk across the sidewalk and talk to the hilton concierge. The rooms are also very small and somewhat old. Dents, dings, scratches on the walls, etc. We barely had enough space for the both of us and our luggage in the room. The bed was old and had weird spring lumps in it. The a/c was very weak. I would say it would be on the level as an old Hampton inn or a clean motel 6 in the USA. The good thing about this hotel is the location. Easy access from the champ de mars metro stop. A good hotel for a single business traveler. Definitely do not even think about trying to honeymoon here or plan a special romantic event here.”

“Room was very small my wife and I could hardly move around, and two very small desk chairs were very uncomfortable. We have stayed in Paris several times and this was by far the worst room.”

“The location was great. The room was nice but we got two twin beds and wanted one king or queen. The drinks at the bar were expensive and the bartender was rude. The hotel desk staff was very nice and helpful.”

“This hotel is awfully close to the Eiffel Tower, except there are no views of it from inside the hotel (there are no good views at all). Very nice lobby and bar area, but the rooms are middle of the road, but clean. Not four star quality rooms more like three.”

“Apart from the location, which is maybe a 4 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower, and a stones throw to 2 subway stops, we were not that impressed. This is not 4 stars in my book. It is great for big groups of travelers, but has absolutely no charm at all. I've been to Paris many times and the rooms are often small, but for a 4 star this was a joke. You expect more from a 4 star.”

“No freebies. Every thing is charged. Internet access is very expensive. Phone calls are expensive. They kept some drinks in the room. I thought they are free. But they charged very high prices for drinks (ex: coke can $2.5. Staff is not friendly. Could not give cab number or book cab for me.”

“The overall experience was pretty good. Most of the staff was friendly and courteous (except for the one, who was somewhat business like). The room was small, but comparatively clean. Bath tub did not have curtains, but had only a swinging door which only covered half the tub. Had to be real careful not to flood the bath room while taking the shower. One nice thing was it had a pull-away bed under a sofa-come-bed, so both our young one had their own comfortable beds. And, 4 of us stayed together in the room. While checking out check the bill carefully. There were a couple of items charged against our room for the breakfast we did not have, and a couple of telephone calls we did not make. In all, it was worth 170 bucks a day!”
