  • Great location, lovely walk along tow path next to river into oxford. Restaurant in hotel was good, food all of a high standard including breakfast which was one of the best i've had anywhere.
  • The bathroom in our room could have been better maintained as it looked past its best, with a bit of mould round the bath and my pet-hate; a shower curtain! Also the TV in our bedroom didn't work properly.

“The description given in the website is accurate, and the hotel suited our purpose very well in terms of nice location and a lovely walk into oxford. We would definitely go back given the chance. I would say however that if we had paid full rate of -u120”

  • Excellent value- very nice room, convenient location, beautiful grounds and pleasant staff.
  • Difficulty with toilet flush; shaver outlet melted down US hair dryer; breakfast hours too short-ended at 9:30am.

“This was a first rate hotel for the price. After seeing some of the others we considered before booking, I was pleased to have opted for yours. The site and the facilities are very appealing, and were consistent with your promotional materials. Guess I wo”

  • Beautiful tranquil setting, the restaurant meal was excellent quality & service immaculate

“Room 312 was a lovely quiet, large, non-smoking room overlooking the extensive gardens.

This was exactly as requested at time of booking.

The hotel is close to Ifley lock on the Thames with a good walk along the tow path into Oxford centre.

Good local public house in the village .”

  • No trouser press in room. Noise level from party too high. Quieter room preferred.

  • excellent clean and spcaious room, lovely homemade biscuits, good extra touches (magazines, water, notebook)
  • very small portons at dinner for price, window didn't shut prperly so cold night, limited satelitte channels

“i had planed to eat in the pub i had found in the village, but they didn't serve food on a monday night. this meant we had toeat in the hotel restaurant as the village only has the one pub. the hotel restaurant served good food, all homemade, but it was too expensive for the size of the portion. they also deliberately left some ingredients off our plates, including potatoes for my boyfriend, and parma ham for me. breakfast should be served later than 9.30 - after all, for some people, the pleasure of staying in the hotel is the ly-in. also, this website says you can check out at 12.00, but it is in fact 11.00. overall though, the atmosphere was good, the room, apart from being cold was excellent and the open fire in the lounge was a lovely touch.”

  • Quiet hotel in pleasant location. Excellent room and good quality breakfast.
  • Nothing to dislike!

“Good hotel on the outskirts of Oxford with free parking. Our room was huge and well appointed for the price. Pleasant walk into Oxford along the river bank took about 30 minutes although it could be muddy if wet. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.”

  • Large room, clean, fairly good location, near an old village.

“I found the hotel very pleasant. It was about 2 miles from Oxford city center, but I knew that beforehand, and the bus system made it very easy to get into the city to visit my friend.”

  • LCD television, unbelievably soft mattress - it's the little things that matter.
  • No remote but we survived !

“We went away for a quiet weekend and stayed in the new extension at the rear of the main building. We can't honestly think of anything we didn't like. We locked our key in our room and asked for a bottle opener and the staff were fantastic. Recommend room 406 for real privacy.”

  • It was quiet and comfortable but convenient for Oxford centre and colleges.
  • None

“We needed accommodation for one night close to Oxford town centre. To find somewhere quiet in its own grounds at the price we paid was a dream. The lack of 'plastic and chrome' fittings was a real bonus. The restaurant was good, with tasty food and pleasant ambience - our daughter joined us for dinner and enjoyed the experience. Most importantly we had a comfortable night's sleep.”

  • Accomodation nice & Modern, Friendly Staff if a bit rushed
  • Please refer to my E-mail sent prior to this. Non smoking signs required in Elm House

“Confirmation directly from the Hotel regarding my booking and accomodation. To see a menu and to know it would be a French restaurant - The food was lovely but I now know the portions are very small! To ensure a smoking room was available.”

  • as indicated your staff excelled
  • I wouldn't stay at your hotel again due to the excessive smell of smoke upon arrival (due to the bar I think) in the elevator and hallways...didn't care for it at all. however, they were having the carpets cleaned while there which helped a bit.

“In the future I may ask if it is a smoke-free environment or not not just a smoke free room. It's almost a non issue in the U.S. these days. Also I thought the linens could have used replacing the blanket was very rough and worn.”

  • Well decorated and comfortable accommodation
  • Walk from accommodation to Restaurant

“A map detailing the location of the Hotel on your webpage or attached to your Hotel details would have saved me additional research. We booked for a romantic getaway and although the accommodation (Elm House) was very good, we didn't find out that there would be no room service until we arrived perhaps you need to be more explicit in your information. I must add that this did not present as a problem this particular visit but may do if we decide on future visits.”

  • Siting of hotel in Oxford, good room.
  • Week or more out of date yoghurts supplied for breakfast. Probably would not have killed us but not what we would have chosen.

“The tariff that applied was not clear. We booked one tariff but were charged another - perhaps overall in our favour but if we had known the tariff that would have applied we may well have altered our plans.”

“The hotel is located very well just outside Oxford centre in quiet and beautiful surroundings. The staff were very friendly and always happy to help to make your stay a pleasure. The dinner menu was excellent as was the food, cooked to perfection. The whole experience was very relaxed and an absolute pleasure.”
