“I have just returned from Italy - 4 days in Florence, 2 in Rome. Florence is a wonderful city only marred by the ambassador bah hotel. Where do I begin - if you are looking for a location near the bus and train stations it is great, it is situated right between both stations? If you are looking for a competent staff - look elsewhere. The front desk staff was incapable of correctly booking a tour as requested for a small group (12). They were incapable of correctly taking and distributing messages left for guests and were often incapable of being able communicate with guests. As for the facilities they list let me go over a few - satellite TV is in the bar not in the rooms, air-conditioning is only turned on in august (not really useful if there is warm weather in April which we encountered) - bar claims a large afternoon (happy hour) buffet supposedly lots of hors'devours (they have pictures around the hotel showing a lavish spread) it actually consists of potato chips, mixed snack crackers and mixed nuts and a rice dish, they have an extensive drink menu most of which they either don't know how to make or can't because they don't have all the ingredients - last but not least the complimentary breakfast - they have eggs - hard boiled only or mostly hard boiled, no fresh fruit, cereal with warm milk, croissants, cheese, cocktail hot dogs (their version of sausage) it was pitiful. I would absolutely never, ever recommend this hotel to anyone...”
