• Our experience left us with a very negative view of Auckland. We had a most positive experience in Christchurch. Otherwise our view of NZ as a whole would have been affected. The hotel lacks spirit and good will.
• Staff not as friendly as other hotels. We stayed in 6 hotels, and we can base our experiences in Ibis in Auckland against experiences in other hotels.

“I stayed in this hotel from Friday July 20th until Saturday 28th. (a) The room was too small for 2 people. (b) Because of the small size of the room, the kettle was a definite health and safety issue as the flex looped outwards. (c) On arrival, the internet was not working. (d) Internet charges dearer than other hotels we stayed in. (e) Laundry facilities more expensive than other hotels. (f) My mobile charger disappeared from my hotel room. (g) Staff distant and lacking in empathy or sympathy i.e. no effort to respond to complaints. I brought the receipt for the new charger to the hotel management to get a refund and was told that there would be a police investigation into its disappearance. I was told this the night before we were leaving! Staff is not trained to be customer friendly, and I got the feeling it was all about profit. This contrasts with our experience in the Ibis Hotel in Sydney Airport. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”
