The Melo Alvim house is the oldest urban mansion at Viana do Castelo. On one hand the architectural/historical and cultural exuberance was very well preserved during the restoration campaign to adapt the house to an inn.

On the other hand the details were enhanced and the environment was created to lead the host to a visit along several periods of Portuguese architecture- the Manueline, the Chao style, the baroque and the romantic period. The reception to hosts offers a start to their stay in a refreshing surround- access to upper floors with a banister baroque stairway. The Alto Minho cuisine based on traditional recipes has its prominent scenery at the Conde do Camarido restaurant- another reference in the history of the house. At the end of the day you can enjoy your favorite drink in a welcoming atmosphere at the bar or in the cloisters garden. Road works will take place on the adjacent areas of our inn, which will draw out until next spring. The Melo Alvim house would like to apologize for any inconvenience that it may cause and thank you for your understanding, as well. Finally, we would like to point out that these road works will improve and qualify both, the urban life and the area surrounding our inn.
