• Location, great staff, El Pirata Bar/Restaurant
• Noise from Blue Parrot & El Pirata til the wee hours

“We loved staying in Playa del Carmen. We just got back from our first trip there (2/12/05 to 2/19/05). The Costa del Mar has a great vibe. It's relaxed, the staff is friendly & helpful, the beer is cold, the food is okay, the location is fantastic - sand only feet away. Always a palapa to shade you from the sun or a beach chair to lounge in. We were disappointed with how loud the nightclub next door is, along with the competing noise from El Pirata. It was a shame because we enjoyed hanging out there so much...but when the walls of your hotel room vibrate from bass until 4am...that's a bit much. We like to go out and have a good time too (both 31) but we also like to get some sleep so we can enjoy the next day. We were in a standard room with A/C close to the road but it was still loud. Ear plugs were needed to catch some zzzz's! Overall we found this to be a charming hotel...but beware of the noise....”
