• Spotlessly clean, modern and comfortable friendly.
• Need a car to get to/from airport unless good with trains!

“This is a very clean, modern, smart & above all comfortable hotel. Thoroughly recommendable. The hotel is predominantly oriented towards business customers. Certainly I found the reception staff to be most courteous and helpful - but you have to be friendly and reasonable with them first. And remember, the hotel name is Arora The hotel is in the Center of Crawley over 4 miles from Gatwick Airport and sufficient time must be allowed for the transfer. If you are not driving then the railway station is next door to the hotel (very convenient entrance straight off the westbound platform) with a frequent service up to 1 o'clock in the morning. If you are driving and using the long term Airparks, then allow 45-60 minutes from hotel to either North or South Terminal; the car parking is some 2.5 miles from the South Terminal, but a frequent bus service to either terminal runs throughout the day. Using my personal experience with 4 stays at the hotel, at check in you should ask for a room on one of the side blocks away from the railway as there is some train noise detectable in the main block. In 2008 my wife & I stayed in the west side block and the rooms were superb and quiet (my wife left a pair of shoes in the room going out, which were returned on our stay coming back!). If you want to stay in this very comfortable hotel.”

“Fabulous hotel and I am very fussy. Spotlessly clean. Excellent location for Gatwick Airport. Only stayed for one night and didn't have dinner so can't comment on that but for an airport stopover it was fantastic. Very fast check in and very helpful staff.”

• Close to the airport.
• For not much more you can just stay at the Sofitel, same chain and its in the terminal.

“Great location if you have time to catch the train into the hotel. Only 2.5 GBP for the train but you have to allow time to get to the platform and get a ticket.”

• Terrifically friendly staff.
• It's Crawley--not particularly charming or close to Gatwick.

• It was very modern, clean and comfortable.
• The shower head placement (directly overhead) was not to my preference.

“I thought this hotel was fantastic overall. The staff was friendly; the room was very nice and quite high-tech (which was cool).”

• Great room, courteous staff.
• Shuttle to Gatwick only once an hour.

“Excellent 4* hotel, close to Gatwick. However, shuttle only runs once an hour. From Gatwick, easy to take train 2 stops to crawly, walk north along the platform (i.e. Walk backwards), then ring bell to get access to hotel.”

• Bed was soft.
• Could not check in early and had to pay extra to do so food in hotel was very poor quality.

“Only thing good about this place was the comfortable bed will never stay here again got ripped off for the money I spent.”

• New, modern very comfortable hotel. Staff were friendly.
• Location , Location, Location , too far away from LGW, too hard to get to.

“I would not class this property as an Airport Hotel or 4 Stars. My problem was with the hotel. There is no shuttle service from the airport. The small van they have has to be precooked once you are at Gatwick and runs on once per hour! The van also stops at 10pm. I came out from London at midnight on the Gatwick Express and had to buy another train ticket to Crawley and wait 40 minutes on a empty train platform. At Crawley I was on an open platform at 1AM in the rain with 2 suitcases. There are no trolleys or porters only stairs. At that point I could see the hotel, but there are no signs on how to get there to a small gate at the very end of the train platform. The next day, the van returning to Gatwick is on a first come basis and was already booked. It is a $30 cab ride to get back to the airport.”

• Modern, and well maintained... airport shuttle complimentary.
• I found nothing to dislike.

• Had to wait ONE HOUR for the shuttle to the hotel. Also, their number is not listed on the Shuttle Board, so we could not call them.

• Not the star rating that was advertised.

“We asked for a bellman to help with our luggage the morning of departure and the girl at the front desk pointed to the trolley and said we could take it our selves? Ate in the hotel restaurant for breakfast, table was sticky, told the server and they "shrugged" their shoulders. Understood this was an airport hotel, after arriving at the Aurora airport hotel, were told we were at the wrong one, had to pay a cab 21 pounds to get to another Aurora hotel 15 minutes away. Very frustrating after a long trip. ”

• Awesome room, great shower, very comfortable bed!!!
• How to rent plates for carried in food.

“We got a total steal in this hotel. If you need transportation from Gatwick to the Aurora call the hotel two days in advance to arrange for their free shuttle. You will pay at least $40 for the round trip on your own in bus or cab fairs. I would also recommend go the Is Italian restaurant a good 15 minute walk away (some of the best Italian food we have ever had).”

• Nice quality - good bed.
• Lost reservation - didn't offer any offsetting courtesies.

“Nice hotel... a little out of the way. Staff is polite but they didn't make any effort to compensate for problem with hotel reservations or airport transfers that occurred through no fault of our own.”

• Close to Gatwick airport and in a small town.
• Difficult to find from train platform, no signs and access gate was locked. Take a taxi.

“The hotel was very nice, but I was traveling with my 78 year old mother in a wheelchair. The web site says the hotel is accessed right from the train station, platform 2. It is, but there were no signs on the outside of the building. The access gate, when we found it, was locked and had stairs. There was an intercom to the front desk at the gate and they sent a young man right away who helped us up the stairs. The room was very nice although the hotel is right on the train line. It didn't bother us, but just to let you know, it can be a little noisy if people are bothered by that. The front desk staff were very nice, but they insisted on charging the room to my credit card even though I had already paid. I walked into town (about 3 blocks to shops and restaurants) through a nice residential area. Took a taxi back to Gatwick in the morning.”
