• Location close to metro station and St. Catherine.
• It doesn't have a pool.

• Friendly and helpful staff.
• Shower was busted. TV controls very tricky. Corridors cold.

“Novotel is a very modernist style hotel. Registration at three oval islands in the lobby is helpful and better than the traditional style. The style is straight lines and simplified shapes and very little color except for an excessively sparky ceiling in the restaurant booths. Staff and service were excellent.”

• Great breakfast buffet and nice clean modern and affordable room.
• The matress could have been a bit more firmer with better back support.

“This hotel offered a clean, modern room at an affordable price. Restaurant was cozy and comformatble and the food at the breakfast buffet was of very good quality. I also loved the location which was close to everything including the most important place for me, the Bell Centre.”

• The modern architecture and furnishings as well as the great friendly staff.
• The vending machine broke.

“This was a great place to stay! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! The hotel was clean and very well up kept. The location couldn't have been better I'd say it was a five star experience!”

• The location could not have been better.
• No amenities such as pool, work out area, etc.

“The rooms were spacious, clean, nicely appointed, and beautifully decorated. Although the view was lacking somewhat, the point of my stay was not to lounge inside looking out the window, so that did not matter to me. The location could not have been better, within minutes to everything downtown. Staff was friendly, and eager to be of assistance. It only could have been improved by the addition of a pool/work-out area. Highly recommended.”

“Great location, helpful staff, cleans modern rooms. Only issue was heat control in room. Offered a hot to cold dial not the ability to set the desired temperature.”

• The location is wonderful and the service is excellent, the parking is also cheaper and easier than most places.
• The mini bar has cameras. You touch it, you've bought it - be careful!

“This is a pleasant, easy to find, enjoyable, modern place to stay. The parking garage is next door and is not owned by the hotel, but the rate is incredibly reasonable at $15.00. The other place I stayed it was $25.00 a day and you had to pay extra to get your car out. At this hotel you get a bar code and you can go in and out as much as you like.”

• Convenient location, large rooms, clean.
• The staff, facilities are dated.

“It is a simple and conveniently located hotel. Great for business travel or family vocation. But they've got to improve their service. Only after I insisted and then they searched around and found the material, fortunately. The facilities are way too old (mattress sunk, sheets are torn, etc.) To be a 3 star hotel. I'd say 2-2.5 star is more like it.”

• Old and rather drabby building/room, just basic.

“I got this hotel at the last minute, and I was quite happy with the location. The parking was reasonable ($15.95) and what made a huge difference was the very friendly, professional and helpful staff. If you want a cheap, basic, good but no frill place to stay in Downtown Montreal, this is a good place.”

• The hotel was not even close in value to the Hyatt which is the same star level.

“I hope I never get this hotel again. I much prefer the Hyatt or the holiday inn at this star level (they both have a pool).”

“First we got a smoking room, which was unacceptable (i didn't know that they still exist). But the staff was very friendly and gave us another room. This second one was o.k., but not like a 4 star room. It was a little bit dusty and pretty small. Unfortunately they don't have a pool or something else to do with a very young child.”

• The location was really good.
• The rooms were average, even though the asked if I wanted to upgrade for an extra 25 a night.

“Hotel location was excellent. Right off of St. Catherine and one block from crescent St. Hotel staff parked in the exit ramp of the parking garage and did not move when the problem was reported. This almost caused several accidents in the parking garage.”
