“We preceded a week in Waikiki by a night's stay in this hotel. I wish we had stayed longer. Very beautiful, calm place at very reasonable price. If I ever go back to Oahu, I will stay here rather than Waikiki.”

“I thought the hotel was a decent place to stay, if you were planning on never leaving the premise. The area it was in was filled with transients and the locals couldn't warn us enough not to leave the car alone if we were on that side of the island. The hotel lobby and recreational stuff was extremely far away from our room and if you didn't want to feel obligated to tip the drivers of the golf carts to drive you to your room, then you were in for a workout. Which is not what we wanted after long days at the beach or hiking through the mountains on the other side of the island. Room service would come sometimes early in the morning when we were getting ready for the day, if we didn't let them in at that time, they were not willing to come back later to freshen and clean up the room. They never vacuumed or washed the floors or tub the whole time we were their either.”

“I was in a group of 4, to attend a workshop, which was 6 hours/day, so trip was semi-business. The grounds are beautiful and all the staff very helpful. We had stayed the 1st part of the trip in Waikiki, so the contrast was very nice for us.”

“Great hotel just too far from island activities.”

“I would never go there again nor would I recommend it to anyone expecting a level three or above resort. This place needs a renovation, new carpet, bug control, and a thorough cleaning of rooms.”

“Just returned from week in March. The grounds are beautiful, as is the setting. Many wonderful on-site activities available. I highly recommend the Makaha Experience Tour which is free. Lovely, vast golf resort. Rooms are average but comfortable. Need a car to travel to other areas. Resort is safe and friendly. Breakfasts are so-so.”

“Ambiance was very nice. The resort offered free trips to ocean sites and to an ancient Hawaiian Temple, as well as other tours and activities for a price.”

“We will surely return to this resort. Loved waking up to the birds in the morning, instead of traffic. Far from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Just a perfect vacation spot, if you want to get away. The golf course was fabulous.”

“We stayed here in December of '07 during a horrible storm with more wind than west side of the island normally gets. But despite the unusually weather conditions and road closures due to down power lines, the resort was great! We did not want the crowds and craziness of Honolulu so this resort was perfect. This was a surfing vacation and the waves at Makaha were good. We did surf other spots on the island but has the best days at Makaha. The staff seemed to go above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay. I have to agree with other reviewers about the homeless encampments that you see on the drive to the resort, but the resort felt very safe and secure. The views are incredible. You'd never have that view in Waikiki. We will stay here again! The beauty of the valley where the resort is located incredible.”

“This was not in a great location. The neighborhood was a little scary and very far away from everything. I wanted to end our trip in a relaxing remote area and that is not really what it was.”

“After arriving, I knew the reviews had been terribly misleading. The resort was beautiful, very well kept & clean, the staff was very friendly & helpful, and we absolutely loved staying in such a peaceful & quiet place. We loved sitting outside our room listening to the birds chirp while drinking our morning coffee & just taking in the beauty. If we would have been there longer we would have loved to get in on some of their activities like lei making.”

“The hotel was simply sensational. We did not walk into a hotel room - We walked into a home! It had absolutely everything you could ask for and so much more. It is perfect for a couple and a family alike. Everything you need is less than a block away - food - movies - restaurants. Terrific! The view and the patio and.”
