  • Beautiful hotel and grounds, great staff. Secluded yet convenient.
  • If you have a car (we didn't), traffic could be a problem.

“Husbands, take your wife here. Do it. She'll be treated like royalty and you will, too. having got the kids out on thier own and feeding themselves, my wife and I stayed there for six days in March 07. We had the "Sunrise' package which included a wonderful brekfast that ususally kept us going until dinner. Absolutly beautiful. Superb, responsive, numerous staff. Great dining. Tranquil. Everyone went the extra mile to cater to our needs, desires, and spur-of-the-moment requirements. Cheerful smiles and can-do attitude all around. Never a "not my job" to be heard. Our room was ocean view, overlooking the pool area, and the view was gorgeous morning and night. The room was comfortable and full of amenities. The bath was large, with separate toilet enclosure, shower stall, double tub, and dressing areas. Lots of shelf space in the bath and large closet and storage drawers in the room. A very comfortable bed. Housekeeping twice a day. In the evening, we could sit on the lanai, watch the sun set, and listen to the trio playing Hawaiian music down below. We would sleep with the ocean breeze cooling us and the only sound that of the surf. The common areas of the hotel and the gardens are truly beautiful, manicured and full of flowers. The hotel is secluded, yet close to things. Shopping and nightlife were just short walks away then we could fall back to the hotel to relax. There is no beach directly in front of the hotel, but rather a seawall with railed walkway. We found that a plus. A gate at the side of the pool deck area gave directly onto Waikiki, so the beach is immediately accessible. The arrangement limits non-guest access to the hotel area and keeps noisy beach parties elsewhere. We dined at all three restaurants and loved all of them. The cocktails seemed to be full-strength, not the watered-down drinks served at some beach locations. We noted families with children, couples of all ages, and wedding parties among the guests. We saw no rowdy elements. 24/7 security -- the Halekulani's "Men in Black" -- assured our safety and tranquility. It was more expensive than other places, but considering the beautiful hotel, the service, and the no-extra-charge amenities, it was well worth the cost. Two of our experiences, one small and one large, may show why we loved this place. If it was raining or threatening to, the staff would supply you with an umbrella; just one example of how it seemed no detail was overlooked to see the their guests' comfort. On a larger scale, check-out time our last day was noon, but our flight didn't leave until 11 that night. The front desk arranged for us to remain in our room until 4 p.m., then stored our luggage and allowed us the use of thier hospitality suite, where we put our carryon bags in a locker and continued to enjoy the hotel, beach, and surrounding area then shower, change clothes and relax until time to catch our flight. In effect, the hotel gave us an extra day to enjoy ourselves in Waikiki. Even after we had ceased to be "official" guests, the Halekulani continued to see to our needs. Are we going back? You betcha.”
