• Near downtown area, ratio: quality vs. price is excellent.
• Noisy room neighbors.

“Hotel is very nice with all possible amenities. Hotel restaurant elements has an excellent Seafood chowder but was not happy with the Oysters, not on ice platter and they didn't look freshly out of the cold. I did eat them and wasn't sick. Both restaurant are quite pricey but you can overcome that with nearby good restaurants.”

• The bed was very comfortable and the restaurant was lovely.
• The hot tub was not hot. It was warm. They are selling bottled water in the room for $5 for a small bottle!

“This hotel is located on the far end of Halifax downtown. A healthy jaunt gets you downtown to shops and restaurants. There is a lovely restaurant in the hotel and the staff is lovely. The fitness room is great. The pool is clean but the hot tub is not very hot and the whirl pool timer does not work. The harbor view side of the hotel is much nicer than the street side which is noisy at night.”

• Westin heavenly bed.
• Musty smell in room.

“Best customer service I ever received from a hotel. Room had a musty smell because of moisture level and being an older hotel. Food at banquet was amazing, so I can only reasonably conclude it is the same in the restaurants.”

• Staff were very Helpful and Friendly.
• Room was on the small side or I would have given everything else.

“Greeting friendly, valet parkers on the ball, have no reason to complain, 'Desk staff very quick and efficient although busy, over all a very enjoyable place to stay.”

• The front desk service was friendly, relaxed and welcoming, and professional.
• There was construction equipment (brick laying) just outside our window, no work going on at the time of visit.

“The bathroom was smaller than we expected. The scaffolding outside our window was a little disturbing - no privacy.”

• Furniture was nice, adequate workout facility.
• Room on 8th floor right next to elevator; air-conditioned leaked on rug next to window.

“Ample parking, however was a little concerned at night due to location of lot behind building; at the end of wharf; nice hotel but a little stuffy.”

• Liked the fact that I had an invigorating walk through great downtown heritage and waterfront views.
• Nothing.

“I appreciate character in a hotel. Westin amenities like towels and the bed. While it is a little off the beaten path for downtown business, it is quiet. It affords you the exercise of a very enjoyable walk along the many heritage streets or along a very nice waterfront. Perfectly embodies the character of Halifax.”

• I liked the comfort of the room.
• I did not like the aggressiveness and lack of follow through with the door staff.

“Overall I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. The room was comfortable, although somewhat on the smallish side. I was a little disappointed by the service.”

• The bed and the shower.
• Some rooms were a little small but big enough for us.

“This hotel was great. The bed was loaded with lots of down pillows and a down comforter. The shower was also great! This hotel is located right by Pier 21 at one end of the Halifax boardwalk, very convenient.”

• Hotel was in an excellent location for waterfront activities.
• Hotel was in the wrong area for out of town activities.

“Excellent hotel, but if you are not doing things in Halifax, especially downtown or waterfront, you have to go through the city to get anywhere else. Excellent staff, and other then double beds instead of queen can't think of anything I did not enjoy at this hotel.”

• Comfortable bed, great staff.
• Windows old, not great dessert selection in restaurant, room not ready until 3:40 pm.

“In downtown Halifax, although away from central area. Staff was exceptional. Rooms were clean, comfortable and fresh, although windows seemed old and need to be replaced. Desserts in the room service menu were not available, nor were they available in the restaurant. Overall, nice stay.”

• Unpleasant, rude staff; smallish rooms; not sound proof.

“On the evening of our stay, we could hear very loud music (from the 7th floor where we stayed). Couldn't tell where the music was coming from - there were lots of bars/restaurants in the area. We found out the next morning that there was a wedding bash in the ballroom downstairs! Thinking that the music was coming from the bars in the neighborhood, we said nothing. When we mentioned it in the morning, the old rotund staff member reprimanded us for not saying anything to the night staff. This one particular staff member was curt and somewhat rude. And, didn't bother to help make amends or suggest that something would be done, e.g. next time we won't have the music playing so loud. To be sure, one usually expects and experiences much better than this from Westin staff. Note that the hotel is near the bus station (which can be convenient). It is also near a park and restaurants/bars. There wasn't much sense of safety at night as a result.”

“Service in the hotel was reduced drastically because the hotel was very busy. The overall cleanliness of the room we stayed in was not great. The bathroom was not the cleanest and the AC had leaked through on to the carpet.”

• The staff was outstanding, helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. The room and location were perfect.
• Trying to park to access the lobby for registration was very congested and difficult to maneuver.

“Our first stay in Halifax was perfect. The hotel was located so we could access the Warf, downtown shopping, restaurants all with great ease. The staff guided us to great little spots for a glass of wine at the waters edge or a snack in an 1800s historical setting. The room, overlooking the second largest natural harbor in the world, provided a beautiful view of George's Island, the town of Dartmouth and admired of boats cruising up and down the harbor. We would return in a Heartbeat.”
