“Not impressed. The TV did not work. Having to use your card to get to any floor was annoying. Shower head was at my neck. Better quality at the Comfort Inn.”

“This was a great hotel for the price I got. If you're going to be picky, the color scheme was a little too drab. But for my purposes, it was great. The location is ideal, right in the middle of downtown and right across from the C-train station (the train is free to ride in the downtown area) There was a McDonald's, a Subway, and a couple of convenience stores right across the street. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. The only thing that stood out like a sore thumb was the lone computer in the business room available for Internet access. I had to wait for my turn each time I went there and the room reeked of the stench of stale tobacco as well. It would be nice if there were more computers added to the room and if it were changed to a no-smoking zone.”

“This hotel does not meet a 3 star rating. The rooms are old, smells, beds are old. Falling apart.”

“The hotel is clean and the rooms are nice. The restaurant is great. It is a little difficult to find but it is worth it. It is downtown Calgary, good luck with the number streets running both east and west and north and south. The hotel is great.”

“Overall it was a positive experience. The bathroom counter space could be better. Also, the beds were a bit too firm for me. The staff was very nice and compensated us well for our inconvenience being moved to a room away from the noisy people beside us the first night. The people involved were evicted the next day.”

“Upon arrival I was greeted by hurried staff. Basic functions in room not available. TV remote not in room, TV not functional, room lights burned out etc. Took 20 minutes to get a response from housekeeping and generaly poor facility.”

“This hotel was very poor quality. The lighting was very dark in both the room and the bathroom, there were stains on the carpet, the furniture and the walls, the bed had the worst mattress that I have ever slept on being extremely hard and uncomfortable, the blanket was paper thin, the heater made very loud noises, the neighborhood was very dicey, there was no closet, but an ironing board hanging to the bare wall in the middle of the room, the door was cardboard thin and the service was terrible. I had paid for two nights, but the room and hotel was so atrocious, I checked after sleeping one night and checked into a different hotel, even though that means that I ended up paying for two hotels. ”

“While the hotel is centrally located and the facilities are clean, modern-day amenities one might come to expect in a modern hotel such as readily available high speed internet access and adequate lighting in the WC are lacking. The room was small, the air conditioner noisy, and the pillows flimsy. Secondly the complaint about the keycards working only sporadically. One must obtain an internet access "kit" from the front desk to be able to connect from the room. If you must stay here, there are worse fates. If you have a choice, look elsewhere.”

“We really enjoyed our stay. We want to come back. The best thing about our experience was not only that we got to see each other after 3 months but also the staff at moxies. The best service and the most friendly we have had ANYWHERE. Thanks for the great memories. P.s. underground parking is not suv friendly.”

“The Sandman Hotel is conveniently located in downtown with plenty of rooms. It looks like the company has not spent much on the maintenance of the property, generally dowdy and sub standard state of repair. The facilities that one would expect in an inexpensive business hotel like wireless internet access are not available. My card key had to reprogrammed 3 times on the same day. Staff was generally helpful, particularly the younger staff members, however the older ones tended to be rather surly. When I checked out they could not print an accurate bill, the one they printed had the room tariff included because the system was backing-up. Four days later, they still have not faxed me my bill as promised. That said, it met the basic requirements of a business traveler, clean sheets, clean towels, clean bathrooms.”

“This hotel had a nice lobby and a good restaurant. But the rooms have not been renovated in a long time. The linens were substandard. It was not a room I would stay in.”

“This room is highly over-ranked, three stars it is not! The room is tiny, the bathroom even smaller than one-star motels and some things did not work, I would not recommend the Sandman Downtown unfortunately. ”

“I would not stay at this hotel again. I did not receive the wake up call I requested. Internet connection was horrible and while my money was refunded for this, I was unable to do my work. Room service brought the wrong order. ”
