“My wife and I stayed at the Auberge du Vieux port as a romantic get away. When we arrived, Room had not been cleaned and room service had not been through it. Seeing their error, they did put us in another room, although smaller. That evening the hotel informed me that there had been a problem parking my car. The hotel drove my car into a cement parking lot support. I understood things like that happened and they assured me they would pay for the damages. Almost 3 months later, after providing them with an estimate from a mechanic, they informed me that they are not going to cover the damages and will not mail me a check. From a guests view, the hotel is very beautiful. One of the problems is this hotel is several blocks down hill from the main hotel which has the spa attached. Walking uphill did give us a reason to go to the spa. The ultimate problem with the Auberge is not the facility or the on-site staff but the senior management. I would be reluctant to trust any services, promises or prices they quote you. A hotels management is what makes it a great place to stay. If management understands they are providing a product to a customer, they try and keep the customer happy. The Auberge does not view its visitors as a customer but rather a hindrance to operations. There are other options in Montréal for a romantic getaway.”
