“We just wanted a place to stay overnight as we were there for a wedding, it was not fancy but ok for that.”

“The room we stayed in probably was not cleaned in a few weeks, cigarette butts everywhere, zigzag rolling papers in the room, beer bottles, stains on the blankets, no parking.”

“Hotel was very hard to find with very little signs for direction or to spot it as a tourist. Beds were not clean, poor water pressure for showering. Fridge in room did not work, front desk was not very helpful, no drinking glasses or ice bucket, I can go on and on.”

“Too noisy for middle age couple. The hotel was full and we could not change room, so we stayed in the colder room one night. Everything was working well in the second room. However, the bigger issue is the noise at night. This is party central in Montreal and a lot of young people stay there for the Weekend, so expect to hear doors clapping and people talking loud in the hallway and in adjacent rooms from 1 am till 4 am. This happened both nights on both floors. This was definitely a poor choice for my wife and I (middle age folks) who were looking for some rest after busy days visiting this great city.”

“Upon walking into the hotel, the two men at the reception didnt have a clue as to what language I was speaking. After bringing forth my finch speaking skills, I manage to tell them that I had a reservation and they were in shock, indicating they had no reservation service and no rooms, after about 30 minutes of bantering at he desk they managed to find my name and reservation and realized it was paid already. No elevator service (out of order) so we had to climb up urine scented stairwell. Rooms were disgusting and no nothing the website indicated would have such as iron board, coffee maker, hotel and city information, wireless.”

“If you just want a place to crash that's centrally located while you're in Montreal, you could consider the economic lodge. A B&B would offer the same economy and would feel more like you were actually on a vacation, however.”

“If you're not too fussy about quality, the place is fine and very convenient. It's not dirty, but it has a much worn feel to it. The name "Econolodge" says it all. If you're on a tight budget, it's economical but don't expect too much.”

“This hotel is in a horrible location. It is not in downtown Montreal. It is located in the Latin Quarter. The buildings that surround the hotel are painted with graffiti. It was not a safe neighborhood to walk in after dark. I think you get my point. There is no parking at the hotel and the parking lot that the hotel staff refers you to is $20 Canadian per day and is unattended at night. Also, the lot attendant will only take cash and wants to be paid in advance. Please take my word as a police officer; you do not want to take your family into this neighborhood!”

“The hotel is in a great location . Our initial reception at the hotel was not good, the front desk attendant was rude and very unhelpful but we never saw him again for the rest of the 3 nights we stayed and the rest of the staff were pleasant.”

“Through no fault of ours, we were assigned to the wrong room and had to evacuate this even though we had already put our stuff there and somebody was already occupying the said room when we came back from having dinner. The faucet was leaking, the towel hanger came apart, and the carpet was damp. All in all, it was very disappointing! One of the rooms was booked for 3 occupants but the bed was a full size one, That tends to tilt towards one side. Needless to say, the occupants had a restless, painful night.”

“This hotel is in a good location. But its below average. The first room we were given has one double bed for myself and my son. Also, the room was very small. Once we all sat on the bed it sunk in on one side. I called and they change our room. The next room was a King size bed and this room was much better.”

“I was very disappointed at the service. Upon my arrival the manager was all defensive about my reservation, saying that I had made a reservation for a double smoking room, I never made such selection. The staff was rude. Other guests were having parties all night with alcohol and drugs in the room, slamming doors at all hours of the night. Staff could not keep them under control.”

“I would not recommend this hotel to anyone except for desperate college students who are looking to get drunk in Montréal. The room looks as though it had been worked over pretty well. The heater did not work. Upon opening it up it appeared as though someone had vomited in it. The bath tub walls had some serious breaks in it, as though someone had thrown several punches to it. The sink was cracked and had a horrible repair to it. Upon checking in the bathroom floor was dirty and had hairs all around where the door opens -- not a place commonly swept unless you close the bathroom door. The bed was extremely firm, as were the pillows, and there were only 2 flat hard pillows. There was no closet, probably because the room was too small for one. There was a vintage 1970s fridge, but that too was dirty. They wired the hotel room so when you left and turned out the light switch the TV would go out as well as the lights, not a big deal but kind of inconvenient if you want to watch a little TV while someone slept. This dorm reminded me of my dorm freshman year at college, even then I think the dorm was a little better.”

“The bed was broken, the breaker for the heater kept shutting off, and the staff was of no help any time I inquired about where a restaurant/attraction was in the city, there was no parking- I could go on.”

“We reserved this room one month ahead through the Internet, this was great. We reserved a non-smoking room but arrived to a room reeking of cigarette, unacceptable due to allergies. The clerk then said that was all he had and was the last room and advised he could reimburse our money. We insisted this was not right, the other clerk went up to simply offer another room without verifying the one given to us at first.”
