  • Nice gardens.
  • Customer service was lousy. No room keys for 2 days. Needed to be let into the room by the staff for 2 days. Very inconvenient.

“Location was away from St. Marks Square. Provided a boat shuttle but was broken twice. Asked for extra towels at 10 am. Was told that this was not possible at this time. Went to the towel storage room and got my own. Asked to speak to the manager and was told manager was not available for 1/2 hour. Never showed up. Was told by front desk that problem do happen and that should be expected.”

  • Pretty much everything - exquisite, elegant, classy.
  • Apart from the stay having to end, having to walk past the restaurant to get to the annex.

“I loved this hotel and the area it was in. Just stunning, great service, gorgeous romantic rooms, and very grand public interior. Garden charmingly romantic. Only slight downside was we had to walk round the open plan restaurant to get to our rooms, but that's really nit-picking. We loved it and would go back at the drop of a hat.”

  • There was nothing about the hotel that I liked except for the boat shuttle.
  • The small smelly room, the uncooperative staff was a shame to have this hotel rated as 5 star.

“I had difficulty communicating with the staff, they were unfriendly and unprofessional. I think they only had 3 staff on duty at all time. The hotel is old and smelly. It is located way off the strip and behind a dumpster! It was not worth the money we paid for! And it is definitely not a 5 star hotel. We stayed at a 4 star hotel in Rome and London and it was so much better than this one. My friends and I are very disappointed that this hotel did not turned out to be what we though a 5 star hotel should be.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[8]

  • The location, the friendly and helpful staff & boat. It had very nice decor and we were provided with slippers and a robe and all the extras.
  • We stayed to eat in the hotel because we came in late, and we did not want to leave the hotel, and we spent close to $100 for a modest meal.

“We really enjoyed the hotel, location, the friendly staff, and the beautiful boat that took us to St.marks square and burans. We really enjoyed the stroll from the hotel and taking pictures on the bridges. This really reflected the true view of Venice. We have wonderful memories of Venice and would recommend the hotel very much. We stayed at the hotel before and after a cruise to Greece, and the staff was extremely helpful and professional.”

  • Not much.
  • Very unfriendly staff makes feel like they were bothered.

“Nice size rooms, not good attention to detail, location hard to find, restaurant way to expensive for what it is, bathroom shower leaked all the time.”

  • Stunningly beautiful garden, magnificent views, helpful staff.
  • It isn't cheap.

“One of the most beautiful places I ever stayed. The location is residential Venice - quiet canals, little bridges, it has the feel of a fishing village - and the lagoon behind. You walk in off the quiet street to an architecturally splendid marble hall with Murano chandeliers, and beyond is a vast walled garden, winding gravel paths through century-old trees, jasmine, rambling roses, an ancient ice house with established trees growing from the mound, it's an explorer's garden (and beautifully lit at night), you keep finding new paths and places to sit - and then ahead of you through an arch is the jetty and the lagoon. You eat in the garden under canvas drapes, you sit on the jetty in cushioned chairs, and at every turn every vista is beautiful. The staff are kind, welcoming & informative. My lowest-tariff room was all brocade and windows onto the lagoon. Would I go back? I don't know how I managed to leave.”

  • Nice and clean.
  • They charged for breakfast and for Internet and the rooms were smaller than hotels in Italy, and far from central Venice.

“The hotel is beautiful, however we stayed in hotels just as nice for a fraction of the price. It is located on the opposite side of Venice from most of the shops, sights and restaurants. They also charge 22 Euro or person for breakfast and 10 neuron to use the Internet when this was included everywhere else we stayed in Italy.”

  • Very clean and comfortable. staff was very nice and helpful. hotel was beautiful. garden is very romantic.
  • Not located close to st. mark's. hotel shuttle was only a few time a day. last shuttle back to hotel was 7;30pm, too early. breakfast was too $$$$$$

“Hotel was very clean and beautiful. Bathroom is luxurious, overall beautiful and comfortable. location was not good, far from St. Mark's and shuttle provided by hotel was not frequent enough hence very inconvient. Food was okay but very expensive. Breakfast 36 Euros+10service charge. Very expensive food but the quality is not all that great. not worth eating here.”
