  • Fantastic staff and convenient location.
  • There is nothing I hated about this hotel.

“Staying at the Akasaka Prince Hotel can not be described only experienced. It was well above expectations. Standing at the 27th floor overlooking Tokyo at sundown was amazing to say the least. This Japan trip was our first so it was both for sightseeing and business so after long days of trying to do both it was nice to come "home" to the A.P.H. Again words fail me in describing our experience there; there is no finer hotel in the area for even close to the price. Even the locals I was working with were jealous. If you are going to Tokyo you owe it to yourself to stay there as its absolutely heaven. The staff was very helpful and there were no communication problems at all. It is a half a block from the train station (and a block away from a 7-11, which was helpful at 1 am!). Book your reservations now or you will hate yourself forever.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Excellent views and amenities. Two subway stations next door that connects to several lines.
  • Luxury hotels don't have these, but after staying at cheaper hotels with coin laundries, it was painful to pay for laundry service.

“The Grand Akasaka Prince is located in a business section of Tokyo. It does have 2 subway stations just offsite that link to around 5 or six different lines so you have good connections. There are few drink machines around (none onsite) so pick up sodas in the subway station or elsewhere. Really excellent views and nice amenities in the rooms. In exchange for not having your room cleaned every day, you can get a $10 credit towards the restaurants or shop per day (only 2 days at a time). Has an excellent breakfast buffet for around $24 (2600 yen).”

  • Great location, large rooms with view.
  • Problem with staff regarding pricing.

“Upon check in, I waited 30 minutes and they wanted to charge more per night. I had to argue again regarding the price on the 7th day and I had to wait another 20 minutes .This was very annoying even though the staff is very friendly.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • The staff was very friendly.
  • The sitting fee at the bar was ridiculously high being as I was already a guest of the hotel.

“This hotel would have been quite active in the 80's, but now not so much. It is conveniently located in the center of Tokyo and is in close walking distance to a major subway line. The staff was very attentive and helpful, but there is also a fee attached to your hotel bill that pays for this attentiveness. My main problem with this hotel is the reconciliation between its star rating (5 stars) and what I ended up getting. I expected more and if the rating had have been 3 stars I would have been happier with the room.”

  • Perfect location, spotless, good value.
  • Loved everything.

“This is a beautiful hotel. Very close to the subways or just walking, plenty of shopping closes by. Imperial Palace also within walking distance. Will recommend to everyone.”

  • Good location.
  • The tax and service fee was not included!

“It's a clean and beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The hotel locates in the middle of Tokyo city and near to the subway stations.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[8]

  • Magnificent views of Tokyo.
  • Nine dollar cover charge per person to have a cocktail at the penthouse lounge.

“Great location, nice staff, close to Akasaka neighborhood restaurants, next to subway station. The only disappointment was a nine dollar cover charge to have a drink in the lounge on the top floor of the hotel. Hotel guests should not have to pay a cover, especially when you are paying 12.00 and up for a drink!”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • First rate traditional Japanese service on par with Swiss hoteliers.
  • Lack of wireless internet service, swimming pool, sauna or fitness facilities.

“The hotel is on par with the best services available for the luxury traveler. There are subtle differences between European service and Japanese that could be hardly noticeable, but so trivial that one wonders why the Japanese would not accommodate these expectations.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Very large room for Tokyo.
  • Under beds & other "hidden areas" were not cleaned - very old dust there!

“Great place to base a Tokyo stay - centrally located, excellent concierge, good alternative eating places within walking distance, convenient to subway & taxi access, very friendly & helpful staff.”

  • Clean. Location, staff very friendly.
  • Cost for food.

“Extremely pleased with this hotel. Staff bent over backwards to please. Location was near a major subway stop. Easy traveling via subway to all locations in Tokyo. Rooms where large (per my usual experience in Tokyo). Very clean.”

  • Information desk staff is tops. If they don't know, they'll find out.
  • Needs to be more upfront about rates; extra charges significantly raised the price.

“We loved staying at the grand prince kawaka. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the information desk workers are superb. They provided detailed maps and step-by-step instructions for everywhere we wanted to go and arranged for us to buy baseball tickets. The rooms were large and the views gorgeous (every room is designed as a corner room). There are many restaurants/shops/convince stores within walking distance, and the hotel is centrally located right outside a major subway station with five different lines that will get you to most major spots quickly and easily. The airport limousine bus picks up right at the hotel (much preferred to dragging suitcases on trains). Wasn't happy about all the extra charges tacked on to the quoted price, but still the hotel was a wonderful value.”

  • The staff was very accommodating and friendly.
  • The lobby smelled of cigarette smoke when I walked in.

“The staff was very accommodating and friendly, which put me at ease. The lobby smelled of cigarette smoke when I walked in, which was very unpleasant. The room was adequate. The hotel itself seems to be in need of a remodeling. The location of the hotel was quite convenient.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Location close to 5 subway lines, beautiful view.
  • We missed an indoor swimming pool and a gym.

“Smartly designed, immaculately clean hotel close to five subway lines in a central location. Beautiful views over the Tokyo skyline all the way to Mot. Fuji on clear days from the curved windows that overlook not only in one but two directions. Make sure you call the hotel so you get one of the rooms on the 38th floor on the Mt. Fuji side. Helpful staff, though especially the night shift could benefit from more English lessons (this is true everywhere in Japan). The Limousine Bus will get you there straight from the airport.”
