• Poorly maintained, bad service, horrible experience. Not a boutique hotel at all.

“We stayed at the Melia Vendome for 10 days recently (November 2007) and came back very disappointed with the hotel facilities and overall service. Let me just start by saying that on our second night we were awaken by a couple of mice that were trying to binge on some the flakes of a left over croissant (the bag was in a trash can). After making the front desk aware of this situation, they responded as lazily as if I had just requested an extra set of sheets. The rooms (we tried 2 different ones) are poorly ventilated and have no air conditioning. You need to keep the windows open almost the entire time or the room will quickly get warm.”

• Very small room, no drawers, poor temp control.

“So close to Concorde metro, rue St. Honore, louver and the Madeleine district makes this hotel a good choice. It is really a 3 1/2 star hotel, not a four. Rooms overlooking street have to deal with overnight noise. Showers are difficult to enter and exit, commodes are very uncomfortable. A huge savings over next category hotels.”

• The location was excellent.
• The smell of cigarette smoke was overwhelming.

“The hotel lobby and bar were lovely. Rooms were comfortable and large for European standards. The staff was professional and pleasant, always willing to help with any need. The one computer with an internet connection was inadequate for business travelers and the fact that the hotel was a "smoking" hotel was overwhelming and extremely unpleasant.”
