  • It was the best hotel in Madrid!
  • A better TV screen!

“A great hotel in a city that does not have the best ones! The bed was excellent, staff friendly and the location was fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel.”

  • The architecture of this hotel is magnificent.
  • The simplest of questions asked to the concierge was met with shrugged shoulder (except for Alejandro).

“The hotel did not disappoint us. Only wish the concierge service reflected 5-star hotel expectations.”

  • Outstanding service by the staff.
  • Great for a couple but pricy for families because of extra people charges.

“The Westin Palace is a great hotel in Madrid and is located within easy walking distance of the Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen museums. There were no surprises or unexpected charges and the staff was extremely helpful. If you leave your room for an hour, it is cleaned and picked up. The hotel restaurant is elegant but very pricey so it is best to try for a package that includes breakfast and/or a dinner. My wife accidentally sprained her ankle while in Madrid and the staff at the Palace showed genuine concern and even loaned us a crutch for several days after our reservation. I highly recommend the Westin Palace.”

  • Public spaces are beautiful; bed was very comfortable, location great.
  • Needed to ask for towels, faucet leaked, ac not up to par.

“Palace has a great reputation, this is my third visit in as many years and while at time a little rough around the edges for a 5 star, the price makes this an excellent value.”

  • The bathroom is great. The concierge was very helpful and recommended a great restaurant.
  • You could stay in another hotel for the same price and be treated better.

“From the street you see "the palace' which sounds fantastic and the hotel the lobby is very welcoming. The staff made an error and placed us in an already occupied room so we had to walk back down to the lobby and be reassigned. They were not very friendly and acted as though it was our fault. The 1st floor rooms are not 5-star qualities. I would not recommend staying here as there are many other nice hotels in the vicinity.”

  • Staff very informative and friendly.
  • My room was to the back, no much sun light.

“The room did not have a pot for boiling water.”

  • Absolutely gorgeous hotel. Close to museum and major attractions.
  • Expensive to dine here.

“This hotel is definitely 5 stars. Staff was friendly and helpful--and spoke English. Great location within walking distance of some major attractions. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[8] • Location:[10]

  • Very convenient location and filed with lots of character.
  • Cost us 11euro for an English breakfast tea! No tea making facilities in our room.

“Great location and filled with character. The rooms were spacious and not noisy in spite of the location of the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The amenities of the beautician were a little disappointing for the establishment. Overall a great stay and would highly recommend the Westin.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[8] • Location:[8]

  • Beautiful linens, excellent bath facilities.
  • Construction.

“The hotel was lovely and the room easily met our expectations. However, the hotel was undergoing construction -- which we did not know about prior to our booking and which would certainly have influenced our decision to book. The construction was taking place on much of the 5th floor, which was right under us. Sunday was fine, but Monday morning at 8 am they started hammering and pounding and drilling and this went on all day until after 6 pm. So much for having any "romance" in our room during the afternoon hours. We booked this hotel for our anniversary and were looking forward to peace and beautiful surroundings -- and the peace part we certainly did not get during the day. Might want to consider not including this hotel at this level when the expectations of people booking "5 star" rooms most likely do not include hammer-drilling for 10+ hours per day.”

  • The bed.
  • This was a no smoking hotel, but the person next to us smoked like a fiend and I am allergic, but when I complained to the desk, they would not change.

“We were awakened by the housekeepers all eight mornings. The smoke in the nonsmoking hotel aggravated my allergies, but they refused to move us. The carpeting was filthy.”

  • Good Service, friendly concierge.
  • Rooms need to be updated older hotel.

“For the price I paid to stay at this hotel, I expected a lot more. I question whether this is truly a five star hotel. The Heavenly Bed Westin promotes so heavily is not very comfortable. I was disappointed.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • The staff were incredibly friendly, the hotel was GORGEOUS and luxurious and everything you could want!
  • We wanted a non-smoking room and had to sleep in two twin beds opposed to a whole bed, which we could have had in a smoking room.

“Absolutely amazing hotel! Gorgeous! The rooms are as impressive as the lobby! The staff is very friendly and accommodating The location is great, just a 15 minute walk from Plaza del Sol and 5 minute walk to El Prado. We spent our anniversary at this hotel and our expectations were exceeded and the experience was all we could have hoped for!”

  • Luxurious and beautiful.
  • High fees for services like the phone and laundry.

“This is an amazing hotel. We were offered an upgrade to the preferred floor (6th)for an extra 19 Euro. We took that offer and were absolutely thrilled with the room. The view was spectacular and the linens and bath were outstanding. We even had the Rolling Stones (or at least one of them) staying two doors down from us. Great hotel with relatively friendly service.”

  • The old world elegance and the location.
  • Check in was interminably long. food too expensive.

“Loved this hotel. everything else in Madrid seemed to be modern. but the palace is the old style elegant type of hotel. it's beautiful with crystal chandeliers, beautiful woodwork. the rooms were beautifully decorated and furnished. bathrooms were also elegant. the buffet luncheon was ridiculously expensive and not all that good. otherwise had a wonderful stay at the palace.”

“The hotel is a gem. Beautiful old world charm with all the amenities of today. Great location. Within easy walking distance to most major sights. The rooms are beautifully appointed. Sound proof rooms, so you can sleep as late as you would like.”

  • The beds.

“The rooms are hit and miss, some are remodeled, some are depressing. The beds are super soft, like sitting in a recliner instead of lying flat. The staff is hit and miss as well, some are nice and some are snotty. ”
