“Need urgent refurbishment. It looks so bad because the location and potential. Ugliest and bad I ever seen in a 5 star hotel. It was old and you can fell it from the very first moment. Also the smell in this hotel it was not nice. Towels were stinky! Better to chose another one.”

“The location of this hotel is wonderful. The tube is just a quick walk away. While the majority of the staff was very friendly and helpful, we had problems in obtaining assistance / recommendations from the concierge. We had requested dinner reservations in the morning before leaving the hotel, when we got back to our room in the afternoon we did not have a message back from anyone, and I had to place a follow up call. After the follow up, we requested a different time for the reservation, and then never heard anything back. The rooms at this hotel are extremely worn. There is mold in the bathtub, and the carpets are very dirty. The bedding was average. Overall, I was pleased with this hotel; however I would not consider this to be a luxury hotel based on the condition of the rooms.”

“The location was excellent; however the hotel was at best a 3 star, when we expected 5 stars. Carpets and furnishings were poorly worn. Internet fee was outrageous! $40.00 per 24 hour period is theft. The construction next door disrupted our sleep. They started jack-hammering early in the morning. We changed hotels after three miserable nights.”

“Great location! Old dirty motel room with 6.5' ceilings. Only two guest floors of this hotel have been renovated. We had to pay extra at the hotel to upgrade to a basic renovated room. It was shameful. Don't even consider staying at this property. It is a 2.5 star property at best.”

“The hotel was, overall, a nice place. Our room specifically was a pretty good size - we had a corner room on the 6th floor, which gave us a little extra space over some of the other rooms. The room, though, was of serious need of a rehab. The bedding was old and frayed, and the room generally looked old and worn. The mattress was pretty old too. The location was close to everything, which was great. This came with the price of it being a very noisy area, and the old building had little soundproofing. We didn't take advantage of the health club, which by all accounts is fantastic. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall it was a decent place to stay, though probably doesn't deserve a 5 star rating.”

“Hard to like a hotel that nickels and dimes its customers by asking for an additional 15 GBP for internet use. On the other hand, we hardly used the room and it was perfectly cleaned, well-located and the windows opened for fresh air. Kind staff accommodated our early check-in with a twin room, cluttered feel but ok overall.”

“We were 100 ft from Piccadilly subway station. This hotel is in the best location in London. We went to 4 different shows and able to walk to all of them. We were within walking distance from big been, abbey, Buckingham palace, and fantastic shopping.”

“The room to which I was upgraded was large and reasonably well-appointed but the chairs and upholstery were badly frayed. There was no place to plug in a computer without removing a lamp, a circumstance which made no impression on the staff when reported. The cleaning was haphazard, omitting to line the bathroom wastebasket with the usual plastic bag or to properly resupply towels or fully make the bed with the bedspread in the daytime position.”

“The hotel was acceptable in the common areas. This hotel was at best a 3 star location, and this coming from 2 professionals that travel 80% of our time, and have definitely experienced 5 star service and accommodations.”

“My husband and I stayed at the Le Meridian Piccadilly two years ago for a period of 10 nights. We had a wonderful time. The room was spacious, well-appointed, and luxurious. The hotel staff was just as fabulous. On our second day, we received a tray of fresh fruit and bottled water along with a note from the hotel manager, thanking us for staying at Le Meridian. The Le Meridian chain was acquired by Starwood sometime after our first visit. Our second visit was not quite as special. The room they gave us was sad and shabby. There were stains on the ceiling and wallpaper, the metallic bathroom fixtures had worn down to reveal many layers of colors, and the furniture and linens were threadbare and tatty. This room had not been renovated in at least a decade. The young woman at the front desk did not make eye contact with me when I complained about the quality of the room. I asked to be moved to one of the more recently renovated rooms. She explained that they (the classic rooms) were all like this. She offered to put us in a junior executive room for an additional $40 a day. Buyer beware.”

“This is a 3-star hotel with 5-star snobbery and a 10-star location. The location, however, is truly amazing. 100 yards away from the tube station and really in the heart of London.”

“Love the location, the staff, and the spa. Room is decent, but the mattress is bad compared to the Westin Paris in Paris. You know what they say about Westin's heavenly bed. It is truly a heavenly bed.”

“As soon as I found out which hotel I was booked in, I immediately looked at several sites that had candid photos and reviews of the hotel. What upset me was the bait and switch tactic of this hotel. They show a magnificent room on their site but candid photos show the rooms as a dump. On the day that we checked in, we requested a "renovated room". I guess we encountered just about the only friendly receptionist of our stay- and she did in fact upgrade us to a gorgeous room befitting a 4-star rating and the price that we paid. Let me be clear about this. This is not a 5-star hotel as your web site suggests with respect to the quality of the service/employees, food or rooms. The only thing 5 stars about it were its health club, spa and pool facility and the prices they charged.”

“Excellent location, spacious room's), fresh all-cotton sheets, bathroom small but clean, staff friendly and helpful, restaurant available if overpriced, would choose again in a second if not for outrageous charge for telephone use and internet.”
