  • It was near the airport.
  • It was very expensive and very busy.

“The hotel is typical of a busy international hotel, with several choices of places to eat within the hotel, all across the back of the lobby so easy to spot, but very expensive. Breakfast is not included in the room rate, which is unusual. The WiFi was only available in the lobby lounge area, not in the rooms. The rooms were quiet, and a bottle of drinking water was provided.”

Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[4] • Location:[9]

  • Close to airport and excellent location for domestic / international flight connections. Best option when compared to lengthy travel into Ikoyi or Victoria Island Hotels.
  • Front desk staff is painfully slow and typically it takes 20 minutes to confirm your reservation. The hotel is often over booked and rooms are not always available.

“The hotel staff is friendly and courteous. Restaurant food is fairly good and the hotel is located within a reasonable distance from the airport to avoid length travel into Victoria island of Ikoyi - often 1+ hours. Security staff on hotel floors prevents unwelcome visitors who frequent the lobby and night clubs. The swimming pool is the highlight of the stay for visitors waiting flight connections.”

  • The wireless access was free.
  • There was no wireless access in the rooms and not all of the restaurants were open.

“The staff was very friendly and the traditional Nigerian food was good and plentiful. The twin room we were in was comfortable if a little noisy with the sound of the air conditioning (but hey it was so hot outside we did not care as long as it was cool inside! Didn't make use of the swimming pool, but it looked good from the side, as did the tennis courts.”

“The rooms in the Sheraton Lagos have recently been re-furbished and are very clean and spacious however for some reason they decided to use laminate wooden flooring. This is most annoying seeing as most of the guests are airline crew coming and going at all hours, and the clanking of high heels and wheel bags on the floor in the room above is most annoying. They have just raised all the prices in the hotel. They have had a 65% price hike since the start of the year. It is now N600 for one bottle of beer - compared to N1200 for 12 bottles in the supermarket next door !!!. The food is not bad, but if you are there long term it gets boring after a while, and it is so expensive. It is nearly A#20 for fish and chips, and a burger and chips is around A#12 !!!. (There is a very good Chinese restaurant in the building next door to the hotel that is much more reasonably priced. It is pretty safe to walk there in daylight, and they provide an escort back to the hotel after dark. There is also a supermarket in the same building if you are there long term and don't want to pay the extortionate hotel prices). The hotel have the most awful Nigerian band in the lobby trying to sing western songs and they play the same songs EVERY night, just changing the order and you cannot escape by going to sit outside at the Pool bar, as there is another singer out there who is just as bad too. There are no public areas to sit and relax in the evening without music being played. The hotel provides free wi-fi in the lobby although the tables and chairs are not really designed to be sat in for extended periods of time, so you will end up with back ache if you are there for more than an hour or so - although the bad will have probably driven you out before then !!. There is a small pub called Goodies that is OK, but can get very busy. It is only open from 5pm, and is the only public place in the hotel with a TV on which they constantly show football (soccer). The practice in the pub of throwing the peanut shells on the floor is pretty disgusting (they have bowls of monkey nuts on the tables), and I did hear a couple of reports of rats being seen wandering across the floor !!!. There is a nightclub that is open on Thurs, Fri and Sat nights, although if you are male be prepared to be harassed by the numerous hookers that hang out in there. If there is a group of you though it can be quite good fun. The hotel advertises\ a snooker/billiards room, although I only managed to find this on my 2nd to last night there - it is accessed from inside the nightclub so I don't know how you would get in to use it during the week, and it was locked when I was there. The pool and gym are OK, although the gym equipment is in need of an update. The tennis courts are in good condition, and the lessons are fairly cheap compared to everything else in the hotel. Overall, the hotel isn't bad. The recent room updates (on all but the 5th floor) have helped a lot. The lobby is in serious need of an update though as it looks like the set of a 70's porn film (and combined with the awful music from the band it could well have been once). The major thing that lets the hotel down are the prices for food and drink. The staff may as well wear stripy suits and masks and carry bags with "swag" written on, they really are milking it as they know most of the guests are airline crew that are not supposed to leave the hotel grounds.”
