“My Wife and I stayed at the hotel from the 19th April 2008 - 23rd April 2008. It is a smart old fashioned hotel. It is in a very convenient location just a short distance from the main railway station and about a 10 minute level walk to the Duomo. Our room was spacious, tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. We found most of the staff very helpful and attentive. Breakfast was buffet style and there was a good selection to choose from. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was extremely disappointing. We ordered steak for the main course. This turned out to be a ridiculous miniscule 3 oz/85 gram steak, placed on 4 baby onions topped with a single slice of fried potato 1 inch square x 1/2 inch thick (25mm x25mm x12.5mm) all sparingly drizzled with a red wine sauce. The quality of the food was good, not exceptional. The portions just too small for a meal and very expensive. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby. The only other problem we encountered was the noise from adjoining rooms. We could hear every sound from the adjacent rooms and kept being disturbed which was irritating. The sound insulation is substandard. We did however enjoy our stay at the hotel. The views from the roof garden and top floor restaurant are magnificent.”

“Great location, really sad the service is so poor. We booked two nights in June and got caught in a national rail strike. Rang the moment we found out (day before) and told them. They refused to refund our extra day. When we got there found a so so hotel with lots of steps and hallways. Old world but a bit tired. As we had booked bed and breakfast (and already missed a day) we asked the front desk if we could obtain a box breakfast due to a 5.30am check out. Answer was NO, kitchen is closed. When I complained they told me to go and speak to the chef myself if I had a problem. This prompted a further argument and eventually a manager stepped in to cool the situation. We did get the box the next day. A chewy bar, a biscuit, a banana and a small yogo. Thanks for nothing guys.”
