“I would not recommend this hotel for the average middle class traveler or for the elderly. While I am not cheap by any means, this hotel went far beyond my budget. A lot of walking is required and climbing stairs to get to various places in the hotel. There is even a tram to take you to different areas.”

“This hotel has a great view. But that's where the positives stop. Cleanliness and maintenance are poor. It needs paint, a mop, new furniture, re-plastering of its pools, etc. And the drink and food prices are the highest of all the places we've been in Puerto Rico, including the Ritz and the San Juan. I do not reccommend this hotel.”

“Excellent hotel, but we got an upgrade to a beautiful room. So I cannot judge what a standard room is like, or what my experience would have been in a regular room. Staff was so helpful and friendly. I don't know why other reviewers complained.”

“When staying at El Conquistador, you are paying for the public spaces and the overall setting, not for your room. Our room was filthy and even after 2 calls to housekeeping and a stop by the front desk; we finally cleaned the bathroom ourselves. It was totally unacceptable. That aside, everything else about the resort is 5 star and incredibly beautiful. I do recommend it; just bring your own rubber gloves and cleaner.”

“This hotel is way over priced for what it is. The food was not worth what you pay. The staff was snotty and a bit stuck up. The location was about 40 minutes away from San Juan. Where we went every night to eat and find night life. I would not stay here again.”

“A terrific place just and all around jewel, so big if you want a small quaint place this is not for you but then again plenty of places to sneak off to and be alone trust me real nice if they would just come down to the real world with the price of food and drink.”

“My husband scheduled a spa for me and I was 5 minutes late. By the time I was ready for the message I lost 10 to 13 minutes and they would not make it up for me. I rated this poor customer service and not happy. I was lost in the resort and that is why I was late. We also had dinner at pool side restaurant and misplaced our cell phone and it was not returned. The next day at the same place we left my husband ray ban sunglasses and again they were not returned. The ground maintenance was not good at all. Trash was not picked up daily by pool, beach, hallways etc. Wall had leaks. The sink in our restroom was plugged for days. Overall, I was not happy and will not stay there again. I feel that we deserve a discount.”

“Located in Fajardo which is the Northeast corner. Close to ferry for Vieques and Culebra. Large conference facility however other than pools not much to do for a family outing with children (note plans to add water-park in 2008). Selling point is the private beach reached via ferry. Tip - avoid the seafood restaurant.”

“I liked the hotel overall. However when I parked on the first night in self parking. It took them 30 minutes to send a golf cart down to come pick me up. In fact, they wanted me to walk up the hill with my heavy luggage at first, before I asked for a pick up by them. There are some things they are clearly missing. You would never find this behavior at a hotel in Las Vegas. However they did steer me to a great sailboat/snorkeling charter!”

“I had a great time at the El Conquistador, as did my 8 year old! I would definitely return since I didn't have time to enjoy the golf or tennis that they offered. I thought the food was a bit pricey, i.e. $25 for the breakfast buffet, which is probably my only gripe. I also wish that the restaurants served more local Puerto Rican food.”

“A beautiful property that is in need of some upgrades. The public exterior hallways need new tile, some room furniture needs to be replaced, and beds are? Okay? But should be upgraded. Having said that, the resort is in the process of a major renovation and hopefully will attend to some of the details that detract from this being a true ?world-class resort?. Overall though, I believe most vacationers would be pleased.”

“Not bad but pricey $4 bottled water and $17 bucks for coffee toast eggs and 2 pancakes. $8 drinks. It just adds up when you are there 4 days. Hotel is undergoing big renovation. I have been to better beaches for a lot less. You are captive to the resort. It is not like you could walk to the other restaurants.”

“Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The location is spectacular and the grounds are beautiful and well taken care of. However we felt like the food was mediocre for the prices we were charged - $15 for a sandwich and $10 for a Pina Colada ought to be better than they were. Also, we did not have one of the new upgraded rooms, which might have been nicer, but ours was dirty. The bathroom was dirty, under the couch there were crumbs of food, and we found stains and hair on the bed (not ours). ”
