“Just a reasonable good overall hotel, for the price.”

“Clean, quiet and inexpensive. Tourists expecting a beach resort will be disappointed but for the economy traveler on an overnight layover it makes for a good overnight stay. Downtown, 1 km from the ADO bus station. Some reviews identified limited restaurant hours at this hotel and some distance from other restaurants. Based on that, I made sure to eat before getting to the hotel. One review said the street was unsafe at night. I did not find that to be the case, but I am very comfortable in Mexico. I would stay there again.”

“As someone who has generally been satisfied with hotels, I must admit that I was disappointed with Hotel El Batab. My wife and I arrived at about 6:00 pm, but the restaurant was already closed. The neighborhood that the hotel is located in is not well lighted, clean or safe. The staff suggested that we take a taxi to go to the nearest restaurants, which are not far away, but too far to walk to at night given the neighborhood. I suggest that if you want to stay at an economy hotel in downtown Cancun, you choose one that is in a better location.”

“We used the hotels a layover spot to catch an early flight. It is close to the bus station. It is a bare minimum Hotel. They did have a restaurant and the food was both reasonable and very tasty.”

“It was NOT a 3 star hotel. In the states it would be equivalent to a Motel 6. It was not well-furnished or comfortable. It was a bad area, there were only shops in the area, and it was a few blocks from the bus station. The staff was friendly and the food downstairs was good though. I was expecting something much nicer.”

“Hotel El Batab is a decent value. If you are wanting a hotel to stay for an extended vacation time in Cancun, I would not recommend it. The location is not great, and even though the rooms are clean and adequate, but they are not of vacation quality. It is a good value for one or two nights, tops.”

“The hotel was near to the main street and lots of shopping. With a short walk of a couple blocks one could be on a bus (the R-1) to the beach/party and hotel zone for under a dollar. Nice local restaurants and tons of inexpensive (yet fun) bars within 2 blocks.”
