  • Quiet and safe area.
  • Hotel was disappointing and would definitely not be considered 4 stars. Location is less than ideal and lots of additional charges for parking and tax.

“Overall I was disappointed with the value for money. It would be more accurately described as a 2.5 - 3 star hotel. It is not within walking distance of any tourist attractions.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[9] • Location:[5]

  • The staff was very friendly.
  • It was not worth 229 used a night.

“If I would have known at the time I checked in that the water would be shut off from 11:30pm to 5:30am I would not have booked the room. The room was very small and the view of the parking lot had something to be desired. Also 7 euros for a beer in the hotel lounge is uncalled for I think.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[2]

  • Large clean room, competent staff.
  • Location, location, location.

“Overall it was good. Of course, this one was at the end. I had turned down another hotel because it looked like I could get closer for the same rate. No - I was an extra mile or so out.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[6] • Location:[1]

  • Nothing.
  • Location is terrible. No where near city center.

“Do not stay here if you are young and looking to have fun and be in the city center. The cab rides cost a pretty penny.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[10] • Location:[8]

  • The location of the hotel, although somewhat far from downtown, was pristine. Very clean, very safe.
  • Nothing comes to mind. Everything seemed on par with hotels of similar price.

“The Golden Tulip Apollo Amsterdam was a wonderful experience. Our room was stunningly far from the front desk, but as we had very little luggage (one bag each) it was no problem at all. The area surrounding the Apollo was incredibly clean. It seemed like a middle-upper to upper-class neighborhood. The directions we found from the Amsterdam Central were flawless and easy. We did not write them down for some reason, but a vague recollection of street names was more than enough to find the hotel. I very strongly recommend this hotel. The price was much less than for hotels more central to the city and sights, but at the same time it must be said that the metro ride to downtown is 10-15 minutes, and should be taken into consideration.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[4]

  • Friendly and accommodating.
  • Too far from the center.

“This is definitely not a 4 star hotel, and my 5 friends all agreed with me. The accommodations are clean but no extra features, decor is okay, cold/hot water control in shower did not work. A decent 3 star hotel though. What we saved in room charge, we ended up paying in taxis and public transportation. ”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[10] • Location:[4]

  • Friendly staff.
  • Location and overall quality level.

“This is a very nice hotel, however, it is certainly not a 4 star hotel (it is a 3 star), and it is certainly not in the center of Amsterdam.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[8] • Location:[6]

  • Location is good if you don't mind being away from the city center. Close to museums.
  • A fair amount of noise, but it was new years!

“Nice lobby and helpful staff. Rooms are a bit worn the rate for new years was not cheap. Close too many attractions. Easy tram to city center. A good hotel, which is showing a bit of wear and tear.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[9] • Location:[7]

  • They offered me a cool towel and refreshments as I was checking in.
  • The hotel has a problem with small black flies in the bathroom.

“This hotel had class, respectful staff, and comfortable beds. After several days on travel this hotel affords its guests quiet and repose. For those reliant on public transportation and don't want to pay cab fare, the hotel is a bit far from the center of town. It's a 30 minute walk through good neighborhoods for those who don't mind the trek.”

“Nice location, quiet end of town but still near the action.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[10] • Location:[4]

  • Staff was exceptionally helpful.
  • Too far from City Center.

“Hotel staff was exceptional. Rooms were clean and freshly refurbished. Although I did not eat at the dining room on site, I found the prices to be very expensive. Breakfast was around 25 euros. I was pleased with the quality and service and would recommend this hotel.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[8] • Location:[1]

  • The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating.
  • They charged 29 euros for 24 hours of internet service even though internet service was not available in the room.

“The hotel was certainly not a four-star hotel. It was at the outer edge of the areas described and quite far from the city center which necessitated taking many taxis. I don't mind paying for internet service in the room, but not at such a high cost such as 29 Euros a night when it is only available in the lobby.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[5]

  • I loved the hotel. It was a bit out of the way, but after a long night the 20 minutes walk was not bad and safe.
  • I did not like how far away it was.

“The hotel is excellent. It is neat and the staff very helpful. I am a partier and they knew that and treated me just the same as anyone else. That is class. It was a bit far far away. After a long night though the 4:00 am walk was pleasant, along a canal and safe. I took the tram into town came evening.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[10] • Location:[3]

  • The staff was very friendly.
  • It was obvious that they had rooms for people that booked on priceline, they were tiny, beds were super old and uncomfortable.

“I think we had one of the worst rooms at this hotel. The room was tiny for one person, leave alone for two and we could not control the temperature. It was above 80F when we first entered the room. I would not recommend a stay here. It says that it is a four star hotel and it is priced that way but next time I would simply go elsewhere!”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[1]

  • Clean hotel with friendly staff.
  • Terrible location in Amsterdam for the leisure traveler.

“The Le Meridian Apollo is a fine hotel for the business traveler who wants to stay near the World Trade Center. For the leisure traveler, despite the fact that the hotel is clean and comfortable, it is a dreadful choice, way to far South of the city center and the typical tourist attractions.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[8] • Location:[1]

  • It was ok.

“It was far out of the busy area, which may be nice for some, but it wasn't in the Museum area and according to the Amsterdam Map, it is not. Bed was ok, staff was good, Shell station next door was great for Water and snacks!! Better then mini bar prices. ”

Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[8] • Location:[5]

  • Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
  • A little out of the way.

“Hotel itself was not bad. Rooms were small but clean. Hotel staff was very friendly and more than helpful. Hotel was approximately 20 minute walk to the museum plain, so it was a little out of the way for us. Would have liked to stay in a hotel a little closer to some of Amsterdam's sights.”

Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[6] • Location:[5]

  • Staff was friendly and helpful, room and amenities met expectations.
  • The location is really not in the city center, but a 5 min. walk to the tram line.

“Le Meridian Apollo meets all expectations with respect to room comforts and amenities. The hotel is located with about a 5 min. walk and then a 15 min. tram ride from the more commercial and bustling city center in a more sedate residential area. The setting is quaint (and quiet!) and the lobby decor an eclectic mix of Asian and Dutch styles. Some public areas/rooms offer a nice view of the canal the hotel is situated on. ”
