“This hotel was in a horrible area. Hotel was in a center of the city, 30 min from airport and it is nowhere near 3 stars.”

• This hotel is downtown, in the middle of it, and a nice retreat in the city, find comfort in an older, well-cared for hotel. Nice pool area.
• Liked most everything.

“This was our family's one-night stay in San Jose (took 5 rooms) on the way to the coast for a wedding, if you don't want to stay in chain hotels, you will love the feel of this old, well-cared for hotel. It was clean and secure in downtown area. Rooms are large. Pool was fun (and clean) for the children and breakfast was great. We had apps and drinks by the pool too. Entire family was happy with our accommodations and the service at hotel Santo Tomas.”

• Free fruit in the morning.
• The place is in such a bad area that you cant walk out the door.

“Beware. Thieves and crack heads roam the streets. I had to fight them off just to get ten feet to the door from the taxi. Overpriced, small rooms, but the staff was somewhat friendly. I was the only one there and they gave me the smallest room.”

• The staff is outstanding.
• I disliked the fact that I couldn't stay longer!!!!!

“I have been staying in this hotel for almost 20 years. The owner and staff are completely focused on taking care of the clientele and making sure everyone has a great experience with Costa Rica. They arrange absolutely everything-tours, where to eat, where to stay when you leave San Jose etc. The hotel is 100% secure and it even has a great gym along with a beautiful pool. It is literally a 5 minute walk from the heart of San Jose. I would never consider staying elsewhere.”
